WASHINGTON - A majority of Americans disapprove of protests against restrictions aimed at preventing the spread the coronavirus, according to a new poll that also finds the still-expansive support for such limits - including restaurant closures and stay-at-home orders - has dipped in recent weeks.

The new survey from the University of Chicago Divinity School and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds 55% of Americans disapprove of the protests that have popped up in some states as some Americans begin chafing at public health measures that have decimated the global economy. Thirty-one percent approve of the demonstrations.

**SNIP**

Democrats are more likely than Republicans to disapprove of such protests, 67% to 51%. Thirty-two percent of Republicans and 25% of Democrats say they approve. Only 8% said public protests, marches and rallies should be unrestricted during the outbreak, while 41% think they should be allowed only with restrictions and 50% think they should not be allowed at all.

**SNIP**

Similarly, 67% of Americans now say they favor requiring bars and restaurants to close, down from 76% in the earlier poll. The poll also suggested dipping support for requiring Americans to limit gatherings to 10 people or fewer (from 82% to 75%) and requiring postponement of nonessential medical care (from 68% to 57%).

One may disagree with the message of the protest, but no one should disagree with a group’s right to protest, no matter the message.

They need to compare voters who contribute to the country to those who are not contributing.

Those who are productive want to get back to work.

Considering the number of people I saw out in Houston over the weekend, including at restaurants, I don’t believe this “poll” for a second.

No kidding. Total BS polls. I travel across the DE PA line often and get to talk to a lot of the folks running the businesses I patronize and their customers. I haven’t met one yet that doesn’t think the lockdowns are stupid. These folks who support the lockdown have a simple choice; stay in your house, don’t go back to work. Your problem is solved. No one is forcing you to not remained locked down.

Check back on 2 and a half weeks when summer starts.

Which actually looks like it's going to be next week here in NY.

This late cold snap has thoroughly disgusted people. We are so ready for warm weather and when it happens, they won't be able to keep people indoors any more.

Another day, another fake poll.
It's really simple. If you live in South Dakota Wyoming Georgia Texas or any of the red states that have reopened or stayed open, nobody is forcing you to get out of your house. You are perfectly free to hide under your bed for the rest of your life if you like.
But don't tell others who want to lead a normal life how to lead their lives.
New York City can live on the subways forever for all I care.
But why the heck should people in South Dakota, who have only a tiny fraction of the dead that New York State has, have the same lockdowns as New York?

BINGO!
See #35.
It's like saying, “I don't like chicken, but I am going to stop everyone else from eating chicken”.

If they really do, then we will see them gladly stay indoors in mid July without AC, and not be found anywhere else.

Should I care about what the herd thinks or does?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milgram_experiment

Should I say to myself, “gee, 51% believe in this, I need to believe in this also?”

Today things are even worse. Pubic education is all about following authority and standing in lines. Loss of religion and values, total hedonism and egoism (it’s all about me baby!).

I can truly give a rats ass about what the herd thinks.
