Don’t know much about alligators as I keep my distance because they live at the end of my street.

Wow. We went to Kiawah for our honeymoon and took our 4 children there every summer for 14 years (from Colorado, no less). We always saw lots of alligators but never had one threaten us. Of course, you don't get anywhere near them.

It's terrible this happened to her.

Yep. When you watch too much Crocodile Hunter and too much Swamp People you start to forget that fact...

Poke Sallet. You do cook it and eat it, and my grandmother made it often.

It is poisonous if not properly prepared.

Poke salad is a ‘muricanization.

When visiting Saw-Grass Golf course in Florida there was a very small pond about the size of a kids wading pool near the entrance, Laying on the knoll was an Alligator sunning itself! Startled me greatly as it lifted it’s head as we drove by. The driver just laughed saying peoople in the south don’t think anything about them as they see them as just part of the nature there.

With an “encounter”, I think of something not hazardous.

“Encounter” is the MSM equivalent of “youths”.

They don’t want to scare the horses, so to speak.
