Sadly you are probably right. But Herd Immunity takes a lot of people. I’ve heard 60% of the population. For NYC that would be about 5,000,000 people.
If you look at the current data for NYC you will see that the city has already passed the .1% mark for the death rate. If it holds at something like that we would expect 5000 deaths. But if it creeps up toward 1% we are looking at 50,000 in NYC alone. Not good.

That looks about right. They are more like .2% right now based on the total population of NYC. It will probably end up higher than that.

I checked NYC health dept. page. ~10.5K people were confirmed positive for the virus. The other 5K or so were assumed to be positive.
NYC had an estimated population of 8.4M in 2018.

Those “assumed” cases tend to mess up the science. But it is what it is. I just hope it is the best data available.

I think the Dr. is providing useful comparisons, But I question his “extrapolations.” I do not believe that tests for Covid are administered on a completely random basis. People with symptoms are much more likely to have been tested, so the positives will occur more often than in a random population.

Facts on the ground, public reaction and rejection (especially now that the rejection is based on science, not on emotion), and as mu ch time as it takes to sink in or the next crisis overtakes this one.
I think he gets it, but is not free to move about because the public is really really gullible.
Sometimes, I REALLY think he gets it (how can he not?) and other times I think he’s completely bamboozled by these 2 frauds all for the 2 pronged attack of destroying America and ushering in a vaccine.
That said, the data you are asking for is very important, and it will be very interesting to see the demographics / co-morbidity data when it is compiled and available.
I forgot to add that there are NO experts on this pandemic or this virus.
