This is the THIRD time in twenty years that a dangerous (to the world) virus has originated in China and escaped. China is effectively making war on the whole world. Including itself, but its ruling elite, the Chinese Communist Party, doesn't care about that. We should, even if it means armed conflict.
Which won't be necessary. We can bring down the CCP with the same means we used to bring down the USSR. One of those means, and the most necessary one, is to educate the American people about the nature of the threat. THAT is where you and I are completely at odds.

unfortunately, the mask fiasco was made worse by all the churches and the Chinese going to every store they could and gathering as many masks as possible and shipping them to China PLUS from what I understand many hospital departments and warehouses here that had received their normal shipments were then asked by their Chinese suppliers to ship them back to help there...this all happened around January before it started exploding here.

As for their creators' plans to use the stuff on each other in civil wars after the CCP collapses, that is quite normal given Chinese history. Such local potentates have been looking over their shoulders like that for several thousand years. It's even a standard meme in Chinese fiction.

Friend from Brazil said they (not the friend, he was pissed at the slum dwellers) were partying in the slums like it was extra vacation days. I have some sympathy for them, but not an overwhelming amount.

We’ll never know the real numbers. I suspect even the ones we are using in the US are low (have local evidence) and suspect as cases increase the numbers will become less accurate.
