Cape Cods year-round residents, alarmed by an influx of out-of-state license plates amid the coronavirus outbreak, are petitioning for the shutdown of the Bourne and Sagamore bridges to keep out vacation homeowners and avoid overwhelming their small hospitals.
A Change.org petition to close the bridges, which had nearly 5,000 signatures by Monday afternoon, states: Stop the spread of covid-19 close the bridges. only year round residence, medical personnel. Trucks that deliver essential supplies. While we love our tourists and summer residents this is not the time to come to the cape, out hospital cant handle it. We only have 2 small hospitals here on cape, and limited medical staff. keep the residences and elderly safe on cape.

We’re in Upstate and have a summer place in Cape Cod. Are they saying we can’t get to our property. BS
Well then you transport them to another hospital.
Too much ad’ bllsht jumping, crackling, popping, bouncing, rolling, scrolling I didn’t read it. Fk it.
“THE PURGE!”?
Got nasty looks from the natives.
I agree. I know people upstate nys who own a condo on Cape Cod. Usually there 3 months a year. They pay taxes. Why shouldn’t they be allowed to use it. They are not short term renters.
When paranoia creeps in the violence is not far behind.
So let me get this straight.... full-time residents, AND summer people who own property on the Cape, all pay property taxes to the same tax schedule?
OK, so what is the problem?
We're all in this together. Yeah, right.
FWIW, this time of year, historically, everything is closed until about Memorial Day.
But but, Andy Cuomo would be such a great President.
When snobs snub elites. Pass the popcorn, please.
Upstate, then you're good :)
We have the same problem here with arrogant entitled Californians who insist on coming over the border to use the lake. They bring the virus with the. They also overwhelm our grocery stores and other services. Though we can accommodate them during the season, there are so many now that the system is struggling with them now. The grocery shelves are bare. They are literally taking food out of local families mouths by being here.
Why not. We closed the only road into the Florida Keys to non-residents...
Have they pulled up the drawbridges at Marthas Vineyard where the Obama family dwells in splendor?
A real “War Between the States”
No, not that little thing. You know, his Cosa Nostra.
Hard to stop the boat traffic.
I herad, through a out-of-stater condo owner on the Cape, that condos aren’t turning on the water, fire sprinkler inspections, yada, until Memorial Day, anyway.
