Amid ever-changing models, it's hard to put a finger on just how dangerous the coronavirus is.
We know at this point that COVID-19 the disease caused by the coronavirus has led to more than 85,356 illnesses and more than 1,246 deaths in U.S.
For comparison, the flu has caused an estimated 38 million illnesses, 30,000 hospitalizations and 23,000 deaths this season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

When it comes to lives claimed by the opioid epidemic, for example, in 2018, the most recent year available from the CDC, nearly 47,000 died from opioid-related causes. That accounts for the majority of drug overdose deaths in the U.S. numbering above 67,000.

Yep - took a couple psychology classes “back when” and the ways that people not only allow themselves to be manipulated are not nearly as puzzling as that so many actually wish to be manipulated.
Leave it up to the states.

Who cares. Facts are facts. The bellyachers will go broke too at this rate.
Why does everyone seem to think that comparing the number of cases in a few weeks of COVID-19 with a SEASON of seasonal flu tells us anything about how great this crisis is.
As of today, there are over 105,000 cases of COVID-19 in the US and the numbers are growing rapidly.
They were offering tests to anyone who wanted one, even if no symptoms. I think they had tested between 2,000 and 3,000 people. Population is only about 300,000 so the percentage is very large compared to USA tests. They have a better cross section of population compared to the USA where very sick people make up the majority of the population tested.
Coronavirus is the flu and was originally called SARS-CoV-2. According to Yale medicine, influenza (the flu) and COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus, are both infectious respiratory illnesses. Although the symptoms of COVID-19 and the flu can look similar, the two illnesses are caused by different viruses.
So has every other flu that has come along over the last 50 years. If they were the same, why do we need to develope vaccines for them every year? They are different just like C-19.
The term pandemic is being used for this outbreak. The most deadly pandemic in history was the Spanish flu of 1918. But it was called a flu. This one should be also. They play word games so they can separate it and aim it. It’s a way of applying blame. Not a different problem.

In the other category, what else might be included besides homicides? Certain diseases, but which? Just wondering if there are examples.
I heard that steroids could make this worse. I have no idea how valid that idea is, but you mentioning it makes me wonder.
We are on day 12 of 15 of the presidents directive. Its over Monday
They clearly stated yesterday during the news conference that that is exactly whats going to happen next week because theyre going to separate areas in to hi lo and medium risk with new directives
You realize the clinicians are counting nearly every covid looking death as covid, right? Even those that are something else and the deceased patient is never tested or confirmed to have covid? This comes right from the CDC.
Yes, that's exactly what happened, he even alluded to that in one of the earlier press conferences, inferring they caught him by surprise.
And he's doing ONE DAMN FINE JOB of working his way out of it.

Interesting.
You’d be surprised at how easy it is to produce behavioral and attitude changes in folks - and how the process can snowball....look at how many now accept without any consternation so many societal changes that would have had armed folks in the streets 50 years ago...most of us claim to hate the PC movement while actually following many if the diktats of it...(the word “diktats” is a purposeful hint at what I’m saying)...

Fantastic! As it should be. KAG! :)
On another site, I saw an article about how a large increase in burial urns being ordered by the government in Hubei Province indicates something. I thought - its come to this? Its like Kremlin-watching the former Soviet Union. The media is tacitly admitting they know so little about China, and so distrust Chinese Government statistics, that they must resort to reports like this to guess what is really happening there.
We likely have millions of cases of covid, like the flu but people are not going to doc for mild symptoms as we’ve been directed. In the long run this chart’s death rate is way too high. It should say death rate for severest cases of elderly patients with serious preexisting illness.
Tai Foy May Li?
Or more likely, Dr. Ho Lee Fuq, rearcher at Wuhan Biomedical Research Lab for Peace and Harmony with degrees from University of Michigan and Harvard.
One example is “Stockholm Syndrome” - this is like that on a huge scale...
TheWriterTX — how are you now? If I might ask, did you have any underlying health symptoms before this?
