If the hospitals are unable to handle the patient load, and you are coming down with symptoms that may suggest you have the coronavirus, what have you stocked to self-care at home? I'm looking for essentials items that I haven't considered.
Ive said that about any time Ive had behind the scenes info on a story, the press has usually gotten something wrong, often something major.
Not necessarily specific to surviving COVID-19. I take 3 mg melatonin most nights at bed time, seems to help for drowsiness. Particularly helpful these past few weeks, due to intermittent anxiety when trying to sleep, just due to the news and uncertainties, etc.
Thank you for that information!
“Like cannabis oils?”
Got my Coronavirus cannibas kit at the ready. Purple Kush vape that takes away the arthritic pain and prevents me from going out.
The internet.
I'm not going to die from it so I don't need anything extra to survive it.
Working from home...this is trying on retirement for size. And I LIKE it!
Have you ever used colloidal silver?
I had a sinus infection for 3 months, 3 antibiotic Dr. prescriptions NO RELIEF.
Used colloidal silver and did a sinus flush, gone in 30 minutes - it WORKS FOR ME!!
Before there was refrigeration, the dairy farmers put a silver dollar in their milk cans so the bacteria would be killed and keep the milk safe to use.
The wagon trains put a silver dollar in their water barrels to keep the bacteria out and the water safe.
Look to the old people and find out what they did.
Emergen-C and Turmeric supplements for me, Zyrtec for my allergies and Tylenol.
Perfect. My teen is more likely to drink Gatorade than he is to take Emergen-C. Plus, it seems to still be in stock in most places. We plan to have both.
[disclaimers: I'm not a doctor and could be wrong - was once in the '80s, so do your own research]
I've been doing a bit of RWWA (reading while wondering around) online regarding how to prepare.
As you know, the treatment being talked about is as follows:
1. hydroxychoroquine with
2. zinc
3. antibiotic z-pac
The theory of the malaria drug Hydroxychoroquine is that it is a zinc ionophore, acting to transport zinc into the cells, where it disrupts the virus.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT??
Well, disrupting the viral replication is obviously important for everyone...
But don't people have enough zinc already??
And that seems to be the question to ask.
Young people have higher levels of zinc than older people, in general.
"The serum Zn concentration is correlated inversely with age (r=-0.11, p=0.018). Note, the age-dependent deficiency is not necessarily dietary dependent but is rather an absorption issue."
And what about pre-existing conditions?
I found this fascinating!
"COVID-19 associated C.F.R. increases with the presence of comorbidities, can be explained away by the chronic condition induced Zn-deficiency in cancer (5.6% COVID-19 C.F.R.) and diabetes (7.3% COVID-19 C.F.R.) sufferers."
But that is not all! Those with chronic conditions: alcohol addiction, cancer, diabetes, ect. also have lower levels of zinc.
But that isn't all.
Do folks with hypertension use ACE inhibitors?
And are these associated with zinc deficiency? Yes they are!
https://www.winchest...rticle?id=21382
"ACE inhibitors may cause zinc depletion. 11,12 The ACE inhibitors captopril and enalapril attach to the trace mineral zinc. Because zinc in this bound form cannot replace the zinc that the body uses to meet its normal needs, a gradual loss of zinc from body tissues may result"
Hmmm.... who else is prescribed ACE inhibitors for their medical condition??
Angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitors are a class of medication used primarily for the treatment of high blood pressure and heart failure.
And of course heart patients are among those being affected...
Now we come full circle to seeing why those who die are overwhelmingly those with preexisting health conditions.
They have zinc deficiency, either caused by age, health condition, disease, or medication they were prescribed.
Again, I'm not a scientist or doctor, but I don't believe this is all a coincidence either.
So if this is true - people with a zinc deficiency are especially affected by COVID19, and the current medical treatment of hydroxychoroquine with zinc makes the symptoms resolve, I again note that among actions of hydroxychoroquine, being a zinc ionaphore (transporting zinc into cells), is crucial.
What if you can't get hydroxychoroquine? Are their other zinc ionaphores??
Yes.
The most absorbable forms of zinc are: Ionic Zinc (charged drop form) and zinc picolinate. You will need that.
What can you use as an ionophore to move it into your cells?
Quercitin is a zinc ionophore, transporting zinc into the cells, acting much like hydroxychoroquine, and is an over-the-counter supplement. It is sold on Amazon and in most health stores.
There is one more important zinc ionaphore you can easily purchase... ECGC.
ECGC comes from Green Tea, and again, easily purchased online or in health food stores as a supplement.
One bonus piece of evidence for your consideration...
There was some news about blood type A being more predisposed to getting a severe case of COVID19 than the other blood types.
Care to guess what mineral type A blood individuals are deficient in....
If you guessed zinc, you are correct. Also magnesium.
If anyone is a strong researcher, and interested, please take this and improve it or disprove it as you will.
Being the misanthrope that I am, I lost my job 5 years ago because I couldn’t “relate” to the 20-somethings in my tiny office. (It was my dream job too.) Anyway, I managed to find a P/T telecommuting job that gives me a ton of free time. I just wish I wasn’t so lazy because I should be getting a boatload of things one.
Yup.
I’ve gone through about 3 liters since last Friday.
My wife and I are in our late 50’s. I take one prescription, my wife has none. I was looking in our medicine cabinet the other day. Ibuprophen, Acetometaphin and Benadryl. That’s about it.
We do have a couple decent First Aid kits and I’m First Aid and Wilderness First Aid certified.
Chocolate fudge for ladies in slinky dresses.
Kentucky Bourbon Wild Turkey 101
Russian Vodka Luksusowa
I already keep a good supply of Aspirins.
Have a heating pad already. But awaiting a back ordered Thermometer. I also keep already a hodge podge of items like milkofmag, Imodium AD (store brands), zyrtec D (the tiny bit you are allowed to purchase anymore), some peptoB, generic Nyquil, and did get a bunch more immune boosting Zinc items like elderberry syrup stuff.
Most of this is regularly purchased items because I also care for my dad. We want to make sure we have everything we can anticipate.
But I may have gone a little overboard on all the extra Bourbon and Vodka, just in case....
:)
P.S.
And LOTS of Coffee.
That was one of the first things I should have listed!
That is the house drink.
I like to see what’s on clearance in the health isle at the grocery store. I tend to buy items cheap for whatever ails you. I also have a fully stocked field medic’s bag with all kinds of goodies.
I’m the same way. If my family comes to me with a health complaint, I usually have the thing to help them feel better.
My reserve pantry has 7 or 8 large cans of coffee. Whenever it’s on sale, I stock up.
