I’m betting that Bear’s had a few beers too.

Here you go for both
beaver and bear (and goose) in a Hamms commercial, although the bear is the star! Looking at it, I wonder about the resemblance to Hanna-Barbera's Yogi (1957) but it looks like Hamms is older (c.1953).
Triggers childhood memory from Chicago 1960-62. The jingle was about the best I have ever heard.

Schmidt was two blocks down from my office in St. Paul. They were a buyer of heavy residual oil from our refinery at Pine Bend.
On Friday afternoon, our salesmen were to be found checking the oil tank levels (and sipping a few suds) at Schmidt...

Coors wasnt illegal, per se, East of the Mississippi.
Yeah, I'm sure you're right...us kids only had "Smokey and the Bandit" to use as our legal reference.

Hamms was right up there with Stegmaier and Carlings Black Label.

Did you have the beer can bible? Sounds like you could have been a buddy of mine back then. I still have my entire collection. Lol
Oh heck yeah we did.
We used to hand-write point values on the pages and then go a-huntin'.
If we'd have been buddies, I'd have been the "goody too shoes" that always got talked into doing the bad things.

Reminds me of my misspent youth! The ad and tune have stuck in my head for 60 some years.

My dad got violently sick from salmonella from drinking that beer when it first hit our neighborhood.

Been there. My brother had his collection on the wall above his bed, and one night it came crashing down on his head.

lol. We participated in a "controlled demolition" a time or two.
Looking back on it, isn't it amazing that not only did people throw litter out their car windows so much back then, but they threw so many BEER CANS out their car windows.
Ahhh, a simpler time it was.

In college we played a chart written by one of our grad students, titled "Blue Units".
Blue Units were Stroh's beer, which I guess was popular wherever he did his undergrad.
At GA Southern, it was Milwaukee's Beast.

Hey now - My dad fought the Germans, but he drove Volkswagens the rest of his life. I learned to drive on a Volkswagen!

Not only is he driving a Jeep (minus lawyers’ roll-over exaggerated axles), he’s driving to a lumberyard and drinkning beer on the stack of logs.
