What businesses in California are considered non-essential? Must they close? Are there fines? Can they receive outside deliveries?
Went to my barber shop yesterday to get a haircut. Barber was there, but said he couldn’t cut my hair. Said he would be fined?
A gal friend of mine works in a private company that sends out mail. They are staying open.
I don’t know much about the job or company.
pot shops, massage parlors, liquor stores, drug corners, top less bars, bodegas for lotto, malt liquor and cigarettes. That’s about it!
Here in NJ both pot shops and liquor stores were considered “essential” - both remain open.

The church campus is closed, due to the shelter-in-place order from the county and state.
The campus will be monitored by the police, in our absence.
This notice applies to everyone (even those with keys) it is currently a misdemeanor to be on campus.

I suspect that would be ALL Businesses EXCEPT
Planned Parenthood and the Enemedia.

I’m sure those who cater to the pharmaceutical needs of California’s homeless population can rest assured that they are essential and will not be bothered.
Why would he be hanging out in an empty barber shop?
Barbers will need to become “traveling” barbers - going to customers homes, or work only out of their own home - inviting their customers to make appointments to go to the barber’s house.
I had a hair cutter who quit work to have her kids and be home with them when they were young. She notified many of her customers that she would do business at her home, by appointment. Many of us took her up on that.
Can a real estate agent conduct an open house and sell my place in CA?

To tell people he was NOT open. He was VERY sad and worried.
Told him to go home and work on his vintage old car.
Essential services will remain open, such as:
Gas stations
Pharmacies
Food: Grocery stores, farmers markets, food banks, convenience stores, take-out and delivery restaurants
Banks
Laundromats/laundry services
Essential state and local government functions will also remain open, including law enforcement and offices that provide government programs and services.
What’s closed?
Dine-in restaurants
Bars and nightclubs
Entertainment venues
Gyms and fitness studios
Public events and gatherings
Convention Centers
Hair and nail salons
What I would like to see is a list of essential and non-essential businesses. Was told a city in LA was telling businesses with over 25 employees to close. Rumor or fact??

I work in print services for a living, and I am in Illinois where we are on a statewide "shelter in place" order and can't even visit a church. I was 90% certain that making Happy Birthday banners is NOT considered "essential work" right now so we would be shut down after Saturday, but nope, I am still scheduled my regular hours and I am assigned to close next week, starting on Tuesday night. And my job REQUIRES me to stay close to customers and touch their personal stuff constantly, especially since these bozos can't figure out how to use the damn self-serve Xerox machine on their own, and always jam it anyway by doing stupid stuff like putting their ID card thru the top feeder. I'm sure they'll assign me to clean the restrooms at night too, so I call pull out garbage cans with ladies used tampons stuffed inside. Oh joy!
And yes, the liquor stores are still open, they even sent me an email advertising the fact you can still walk-in and buy a case of booze. I was not aware that it is "essential" if someone wants a bottle of Captain Morgan spiced rum right now. Apparently it is!
Good thing these state governments have their priorities straight!
I doubt that’s true. Home Depot and Lowe’s stores have way more employees per store.
A friend who grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania told me that a friend of his still on the farm said,
I work every day of the year often starting before dawn and on some evenings when I am done I like to go into town and have a beer and talk things over with my friends. Now the governor has closed all bars so this is what I would tell him. If I can’t do this then you can’t have the corn and milk and cheese and beef that I produce. And if you insist then the government can take my farm and Bloomberg can farm it himself.
