Thread #21 here:

COVID-19 what should anaethesiologists and intensivists know about it?
Severe forms of the infection, being an indication for treatment in the intensive care unit, comprise acute lung inflammation, ARDS, sepsis and septic shock. The article presents basic information about etiology, pathogenesis and diagnostics (with particular emphasis on the importance of tomocomputer imaging), clinical picture, treatment and prevention of the infection. It goes on to emphasize the specific risks of providing anesthesiology and intensive care services. Due to the fact that effective causal treatment is not yet available and the number of infections and deaths increases day by day, infection prevention and strict adherence to recommendations of infection control organizations remain the basis for fighting the virus.

The flubros have started their own daily thread, http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3826668/posts?q=1&;page=1
No non-flubros allowed. Too bad they won’t show us the same consideration, though it hasn’t been to bad lately
Believe it or not, beer distributers were deemed essential and left to operate in Pennsylvania.

LOL, naw, y’all go right ahead. Have fun. Just remember which direction to set the bobbin.
I try to stay home, but older neighbors and relatives ask me to get stuff. I go out in a trench coat, N95, goggles and cap. (yeah - I look stupid)
The cashier at the one store bagging my stuff said “And don’t worry - I just washed my hands.”
“That’s fine - I’m not worried - I’ll clean my hands when I get to the truck.”
“Well - obviously you ARE worried.”
Sort of pissed me off. I’m trying my best to keep myself safe, but more importantly the others safe. All the stuff gets cleaned before I deliver it to them. I’m not worried - just being vigilant (see my tagline).
Sitting in the truck (using the hand sanitizer) I was thinking of what I should have said.
“So - when you put on your seat belt - are you ‘worried’ about getting into an accident?”
“Are you worried about going to the hospital because you pay for health insurance? Or worried about getting into a car crash because you have car insurance?”
There was some youtube where a guy was relating this virus to to gun safety. I thought it was really good. The damage that a gun can do is huge. And that is why you use the maximum effort to make it safe. But - that maximum effort is not a big deal, and I don’t know any gun owner that is “afraid” or “worried” about their firearm. That is not to say that we don’t have a huge respect for them, and always use the maximum safety rules.
And the idea that getting prepped for this virus is wishing that it will get real bad to prove me right....that’s like hoping my house burns down because I have homeowner’s insurance.
“See - I TOLD you we needed to have insurance!!”
I live in a tiny town in the sierra Nevada mountains. We have a regional hospital about ten miles from us. Unfortunately all of the people with summer cabins are moving up here now and probably bringing their virus with them. They are overwhelming our markets, and when their symptoms hit, we will all be infected. Our little hospital will be overwhelmed.
We call them flatlanders, and they also bring their sense of entitlement. Not happy at all.
No “issues” exactly, just shirt of breath when lifting weights. We’re runners too, so this is odd
others put the number at 200,000 a month ago
I might have said to someone who gets snippy..and if I was a nurse on the frontline treating these patients would YOU be worried right now...just to see the reaction
That hammer concept is also what I am going to do with Vitamin C if I get the tickle in the throat.
Just not sure what amount would be considered The Hammer.
I will probably just take a few packets of Liposomal C on the first day. Its about all I would be able to get down anyway
legal to loot a long as loot worth less than $950
Idiot Gov. Wolf got hammered about it.
The best communication strategy is to explain that your best friend just tested positive, and you don’t want to infect anyone else! ;-)
“Truckers rest stops are now re-opened in PA. Only take out with those that have restaurants.”
Some of the truck stops are starting to close the restrooms and the showers. I think they are having a hard time finding people to clean them. Soon, they will start to understand that it is going to be impossible to stop these areas from becoming major vectors of infection. You would need employees in full PPE around the clock in there cleaning them.
I think you can take a ton of C. Only possible side effect is, and please don’t quote me, possible kidney stones with prolonged overdose. I’m sure one of the docs can confirm in this thread.
When I see idiots getting too close I tell them I dont feel well so they might want to step back..the panic look of Oh s$$%..is interesting
You dont need to bunch up on people. keep the distance
I had some idiot grab my cart handle after I had sanitized it to move the cart out of the way. I was pissed. I said, “How do you know you didnt just catch WUHAN flu on your hand?”
Then walked away calling her an idiot.
I am practicing a fake cough for those situations...if you act like you are really dumb it should freak them out!
That’s why they make pee bottles and 2 gal buckets with lids
