How well is YOUR grocery stocked?
Local groceries | 3/19/20 | Me, Myself, and I

Posted on 03/19/2020 8:03:21 PM PDT by EinNYC

I just got back from trying to get some common items I need in my refrigerator: carrots, Lactaid milk, and Stok unsweetened coffee. Now I feel very depressed and apprehensive for what's gonna be coming up in the next few weeks.

Went to BJs, as they have great prices on all of the above. I walked into a near-empty store--and immediately the theme music from "The Twilight Zone" started playing. Vegetables--pretty wiped out, and NO carrots. Milk--NO milk of any kind, except goat milk. Guys, you can have my portion of the goat milk! I bought some Silk Almond Milk just to have something. I felt like I'd been slapped, like I had stepped into a nightmare. Here I was in America, and I was being forced to live like someone in a turd world country, with extensive food shortages.

I continued on to Wegmans, and was treated to pretty much the same experience. There was a sign over the carrots -- "Limit: 2 bags of carrots"--but they needn't have bothered, as there WERE no carrots to buy. I needed some for a recipe, so I bought baby food carrots. And a goo-goo to you, too! When I reached the dairy section, I was reminded of Texas--lots of WIDE OPEN SPACES. No milk in sight, and only a few cartons of eggs. I grabbed some eggs, as I needed to buy them before Passover.

As if I didn't hate China, murderous land of selling political prisoners' body parts and the most heinous methods of torturing and killing numerous animal species I ever heard of before, now they are firmly in my sights. I realize that not being able to buy carrots, milk, or refrigerated coffee does not begin to approach the horrible ramifications of the coronavirus plague on many families, putting wage-earners out of work itself, bringing death to loved ones, preventing freedom of movement, and all the other negative changes to our lives, but it's what happened to me now, so far. The food shortage was sufficient to bring it home to me, realtime.

How are the rest of you suffering and how are you coping? I feel for all Americans' suffering induced by the unspeakable lowlife Chinese and their selfishness.

Same here...re FRESH produce. There was also a LOT of canned veggies. Frozen veggies? FORGET IT...EMPTY SHELVES AS FAR AS THE EYE COULD SEE!

Me is a problem, so are some parts and whole chickens! Sea food? Lots and lots and lots!

Paper and cleaning products? It is to laugh! But fortunately we have tons of things like paper towels and poddy paper, because we are sort of "preppers" and have a large basement.

It's really catch as catch can here. :-(

Finished buying food to wait it out two months ago. Should have enough to last for 4 months without buying anything else.

Went to a Harris Teeter in Wake County, NC today....for eggs and chicken.

Got the last container of eggs and no chicken to be found. But plenty of bread, plenty of OJ, plenty of water, plenty of fresh veggies. Looked for chicken at one other store in the area - sold out.

But will try a different store tomorrow morning.

Not discouraged...just slowed down. Have other foods stored.

I haven’t been since Sunday. Saturday, the frozen cases were completely full. Sunday, they were bare. I foolishly thought it would be easier to shop during the week, but the lots have all been full and I haven’t even ventured inside.

Cheese and processed lunch meat were available in the normal quantities.

Friend sent me pics of the devastation in a "super" version of a regional grocery chain we have (HEB). The cheese & lunch meat counter was wiped the heck out. N-O-T-H-I-N-G. That was a LOT of cheese and lunch meat.

On Monday, there was no chicken or turkey, no water, no toilet paper. I went back this afternoon and there was still no chicken, turkey, water or toilet paper.

But they have everything else, especially over in produce. They do have carrots. I bought zucchini.

You stated....” Now I feel very depressed and apprehensive for what's gonna be coming up in the next few weeks”...

Try being grateful for what you have and that we live in a country of abundance and choices...

What stores do you go to and what time? I’ve seen a few empty toilet paper aisles, but nothing outrageous.

Whatever else happens you can always go to the vegan foods aisle and be assured that won’t sell out.

We are at war. Few people know.

Its undeclared bio-warfare.

The Red Chinese did everything they could to obscure COVID-19 and information related to the outbreak, covering it up when the Red Chinese first encounterd the virus in November.

Read it right here:

Its all about China’s bio-warfare espionage conducted world wide, including control of the WHO :

Very thorough and organized. Lengthy and organized historically. Its just the way of India’s academic approach to some issues in journalism. It is updated as more facts come to light. Their premise at first seems far fetched, but the array of facts just keeps slowly accumulating

Their outline:

1.2 Destroying the “Crime Scene”
1.3 China CDC’s Statements

Red China has advanced a huge attack on think tank Great Game India’s credibility , saying their facts are debunked. I see nothing that has been actually debunked in their reporting. You have to remember that Indian journalists have been working to expose Red Chinese subterfuge for a very long time, since about 1949.This is not their first “rodeo,” given Chinese pressure on the Sino-Indian border and the propaganda Red China has published over the years to justify Red China’s expansionist agenda, resulting in border conflicts in the Sikkim area, for example, and other border conflicts involving India’s military and Red China’s support military support of Pakistan.

So I am reading what Great Game India has written about the COVID-19 issue with an open mind. It bears watching. There is a lot going on between our country and China behind the scenes.China refuses to allow US medical teams to visit Wuhan, despite repeated attempts. I suspect that President Trump knows the truth of the matter. He certainly is acting that way on several fronts.

The Red Chinese pown the WHO as a part of their world wide bio-warfare initiative.

In this instance, China has become a finacial winner, buying uo stocks and other inbvestments at bargain basement prices and avoiding losing the Trade War with President Trump or at the very least postponing the trade war.

Freeper Fred Nerks points this out via referencing this article:

Made and froze a bunch of lasagna tonight. Made and froze meatloaf last night. Still have tomato sauce I froze last year from my garden.

Plenty of milk, yogurt, fruit, and veggies at Kroger today. A good selection of meats as well.

Some things out of stock at bigger stores were available at our local Dollar Tree - for example, cartons of milk.

That was two days ago, though. I’m not leaving the house again.

YIKES!

We tend to always buy lots of paper products when they go on sale ( we often get hit with blizzards, some hurricanes, Nor'easters, and loss of power, so learned to keep a LOT of that stuff, as well as pasta, soup, rice, flour, coffee, tea, canned veggies, canned tuna, and such on hand at ALL times! ), but we couldn't get our usual brand of milk, and I got the last Porterhouse steak there was. Ground round, whole chickens, etc.? NOTHING there!

My grocery store tonight had plenty of produce, no hamburg but good choice of steaks. Closer to the cities it’s worse.
