We have an over-80 parent with us, we will be watching church online with him. He understands, and I believe God understands. Matthew 18:20.

FYI...received this, in a United Airlines email....

...

In the air

Our aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art circulation systems, similar to those found in hospitals, which use a high-efficiency (HEPA) filter to circulate the air and remove more than 99% of airborne particles. We’re also adjusting our inflight service to limit person-to-person contamination. This includes handing beverages directly to customers instead of allowing customers to touch a tray and ensuring all flight attendants wear gloves during service.

Wearing gloves is meaningless.

Just means if it gets on the gloves, it still goes to every passenger.

Exactly, what are they going to do, change gloves between each passenger?

just think about the TSA screeners spreading it :)

Do they change gloves between passengers? Do they take the gloves off in such a way as to not contaminate themselves or their clothes?

(have a great day!)

“If true (and the study was convincing to me) then a non symptomatic infected person at CPAC (which we now believe we have) can just breath into the air. Their breath would get picked up the air circulation system in the room and would go into the hotel’s heating/ventilation/air conditioning system.”

Actually, I think it’s a function of the concentration and length of time of the virons (or whatever they’re called...I’ll use virons). So a big room with high ceilings will dilute the virons of a carrier greatly and while everyone will breathe some, they won’t hit the ‘critical mass’ where their body’s first line of defense is overwhelmed (i.e., they’re infected) - but put that same carrier in a cab and things are completely different. If the concentration is low enough, which may be the case there, then very few, if any people will get infected. If this were not the case and instead any exposure assured infection, pretty much every human on the planet would have been infected a month ago. And while I’m at it, I still don’t think we can get anywhere near critical mass by touching a shopping cart, or gas pump, unless, maybe, someone had just sneezed on it.

I’m permitted to have a theory outside of the box, since I don’t work in the medical field. But I am glad to see that they’re finally, slowly, getting around to figuring this out.

I love going to church. I haven’t been much since my wife got sick. The chemo puts her at risk, we we’ve been “pre-gaming” this whole stay at home thing. LOL.

“Did you see the paragraph, in that DM a/c article you posted, about the airline companies’ ‘assurances’, regarding their air system??”

I saw it - they said they have filters. No doubt that cruise ships and hospitals do too. Of course the filters they’re talking about are about as effective as “Please do not Enter” signs on an otherwise unguarded section of our Southern Border.

I was HOPING to see the airline say that NONE of their air is recycled, but then that would add to fuel burning, and we don’t want to do that. Right Greta?

Here you go:

Airlines have already sought to reassure passengers that their air-conditioning systems are fit to prevent the coronavirus spreading in the cabin, with Etihad suggesting their system is as watertight as a hospital operating theatre.

‘In any confined area, there is a risk of contracting illnesses from other people,’ an airline statement reads.

‘However, the risk is considered lower on aircraft because of the use of high efficiency particulate air filters, which are effective in capturing more than 99 per cent of airborne microbes in filtered air.’

Bob:

It is all about probabilities, right?

So, yeah, high ceiling is better than low ceiling, etc.

One thing I have learned in reading about this stuff is that medical professionals always assume the worst in dealing with a communicable disease, and the burden of proof is on the person who wants to claim the risk is less in some way.

Since this is a relatively new disease we should assume the worst and act accordingly, until strong evidence is there that the risk is not as great as we thought it was.

So, my motto would be test first and ask questions later.

Let's spread a rumor that coronavirus can be spread by shrimp cocktails, whiskey, wine, and hors d'oeuvres.

In fact, how about if we make it go... viral ? /ba-dum t'sssh>

Update: There are 13 additional cases of #Coronavirus in NYS since earlier today, bringing total to 89. Westchester: 70 NYC: 11 Nassau: 4 Rockland: 2 Saratoga: 2 There will be more cases as we test more—that’s a good thing bc we can deal with the situation based on more facts.

I said a prayer for Gov. Cuomo tonight. I hate his politics but as a fellow human, I would sure hate to be in his shoes right now.
