I'm just being sarcastic....the firemen that had a brief interaction with a covid pt all got a quick two week paid vacations but no one gives a damn about giving all the staff in the nursing homes two weeks off "out of caution".....because they can't....

those people working with the sick in nursing homes are ESSENTIAL.....and I wish they would be paid that way....

Well, as you probably know, the number one source of funding for nursing homes is Medicaid. That is paid to the owner, who in turn pays the nurses.

Medicaid reimbursement rates barely cover operations costs—that is the problem...even a 10% pay raise for nurses would put many nursing homes out of business.

(I was involved in that business before I retired...)

When what we have now runs out where do you think the supply will be handled from?

China has already indicated that any startup in that sector will be for their domestic use only...

This isn’t a commodity that people buy at costco in bulk.

It’s shots people get for strep throat. It’s antibiotics for urinary tract infections. Antibiotics for pneumonia...

This isn’t a ‘we’ll just get more later’. That works with things like TP. You can make an improvised solution for that. You won’t LIKE the solution but you won’t die without toilet paper.

If you have strep throat and need an antibiotic though...

Here in Washington state our first death was a person on chemo treatment who traveled to South Korea. So they had no immune system and I was curious whether they visited the Life Site Center in Kirkland which now accounts for ten deaths in Washington state.

It would seem likely that a person being treated for cancer might have a friend or relative in assisted living that they would want to visit.
