My Mom had a cast iron pan just like that and on Sunday we would cook bacon and eggs in it and then she would put a cover over the skillet, a tin lid and put it in the oven to keep.
When we wanted to cook an egg during the week we would just take the skillet out of the oven and cook the egg in the grease.
Those were the best tasting eggs ever.
