Hubei Province, China (where the city of Wuhan is) has 2803 deaths with 67,103 confirmed cases.
That is about 42 deaths per 1000 cases of COV-19 virus. So Iran has the highest death rate...
However, Iran has 66 deaths with only 1501 cases. This is about 44 deaths per 1000 REPORTED cases.
Italy only has 52 deaths with 2036 reported cases. This is about 26 deaths per 1000 cases.
There may be more cases in the Seattle area than have been reported. There are 6 deaths there, but only 18 reported cases. 5 deaths in King County and 1 death in Snohomish County. 14 reported cases in King County and 4 cases in Snohomish County.
There may be more cases in the Seattle area than reported. Too few cases for 'statistical analysis' - my opinion. People getting the disease with severe underlying health problems may explain this...
Agree completely. I heard DJT this afternoon making this exact point.
Where did you see that? RE Vit C
NSS. not directed at YOU...df
Gee, I wonder how much of that difference in percentage of mortality can be put down to differences in the quality of available healthcare?
Iran is using steroids which Dr Paul Cottrell points out that is very difficult way treat a virus. Which is likely the reason many more are dying
Daily mail.just saw it
A lot of people believe in vitamin c for sepsis but it gets pushback..
Now that’s funny. :)
That’s because the ones that died in that nursing home already had one foot in the grave before they caught it
Thx...I’m one of those believers
Vitamin C, Vitamin D (D) and L Lysine are all antivirals. D3, in particular is proof against colds and flu and, I suspect, against respiratory viruses in general. It would be prudent if WuHan comes to your area it would definitely prudent to ad those three supplements to one’s daily regimen.|
To a certain extent, you are correct. But let's consider this chart:

The reality is that it DOES matter where you are in the game. True, being ahead isn't a guarantee that you'll win, but on average if you're ahead by the 7th or 8th inning, you'll win. It also depends if your team is in the NL or the AL with that anti-American/pro-outsourcing DH rule. Keeping score, therefore, is not a fool's errand.
Same wth the current situation. Let us roll the clock back 15 years:

To your point, there are lots of factors that go into a CFR. But we can perform some long division and, know which inning we are in, make some educated guesses about what's happening. It also can be a good comparative tool, e.g. The coronavirus CFR in the world beyond China is about where China's was a month ago, but China's acceleration rate at that time of new cases was greater than that of the rest of the world.
I understand that many calculations require context. But surely, you're not saying we shouldn't do ANY calcs?
Me too.
Oh? You voted for Gore? And Kerry? And Dukakis?
He was also King Louis XIV in a previous life...
Smoking may have allot to do with the deaths. This virus seems to attack the lungs. Maybe all of the tar build up in the lungs is a perfect nesting ground for the little virus babies that can block the airways.
North Korea?
I thought the death rate was 100%
You got the sniffles and someone with a rifle shoots you as the cure there
It is really tough to do this, because
there are so many variables from one country to another.
Best just use the USA numbers which is a familiar system to us.
This virus sure move fast through certain countries. What could China, Italy, Iran and South Korea have in common as far as a catalyst. Could there be something they breath in the air, or something in their water or eat.
Okay...I’m in no mood to having a pissing match.
Two places that people typically don’t go to for healthcare when they get sick... Italy and Iran. People with money in those countries go to US or continental Europe for serious operations and medical diagnosis.
