That mask - on guy on the right - doesn’t look good, at all.

Upside down. He was not the only one. There were other passenger photos showing the same or not properly adjusted around the nose. Makes you wonder about the ship training they had during their stay.

I guess by keeping all those folks in the a Diamond Princess Japan achieved one thing and that was, isolating them from the general
population of Japan.

I don’t know how much it helped since Japan seems to be growing a large number of cases. Maybe things would have been worse.

Comment from ZH:

“it’s obvious the cruise ships were used as incubators before a bigger release into the population.

mandatory quarantine long enough for everyone on board to get it, then we ‘accidentally’ let you off the ship with the virus”

Can’t say I disagree with this.

We know State was trying to take down Trump. Do we think any other agencies aren’t on board with that regardless of how many US lives it costs?

Then, there is this...

...Update (1240ET): As we mentioned below, the CDC had some pretty chilling words for the American public during a press conference on Friday. During the 12:15pm ET update, the organization warned that it had centralized ‘surge’ virus response due to a lack of testing kits and the fact that every state but three is unprepared for the epidemic.

During the press conference, the CDC described the virus as a “tremendous public healht threat” and warned that human to human transmission in the US is “very possible, even likely.”

The announcement comes after the Washington Post reported last night that the CDC opposed the State Department’s decision to bring the 14 Americans confirmed to have been infected with the virus aboard the ‘Diamond Princess’ back to the US with the other ~300 evacuees - thereby breaking the quarantine and risking a broader outbreak, and exposing many of the passengers on the flight who hadn’t been infected to the virus.

The CDC was so mad, it reportedly asked for its name to be removed from a press release about the evacuation.

We also noted at the time that the decision to break the quarantine and bring the 14 infected persons back seemed idiotic.

So far, it’s looking like that’s exactly what’s happening: As we noted earlier, 11 of 13 people quarantined in Nebraska have now tested positive.

Just imagine what happens if it hits Omaha, or Chicago. Or New York (which has already had a few scares):

I think a lot of people are just grasping at straws: this only affects the elderly. Smokers. People w/pre-existing conditions. Asians. People wo/ western healthcare. Etc. I suspect it is just human nature to grasp at straws like this. Bottom line is we are only now going to start getting real, usable data.

Agreed. The smoker risk factor may have more to do with greater hands to mouth behavior. Fomites to fingers and then mouth.

CDC is...mad.

Just last week they said the risk to the US was very very low.

Would love to know how many nevertrumpers and ‘resistance’ peeps there are in the CDC.

Odds are, at least these cases, they got the virus on the ship...just like the other 10 Americans now positive in Japan that were negative on the ship

The dill pickle (and doubtless “Never-Trumper”) in the State Dept. who greenlighted this could be liable for crimes against humanity (deliberately infecting innocent civilians with a deadly disease), don’t you suppose?

First of all, as CDC knows, the DP folks were in transit to the airport when the CDC popped the news 14 had tested positive. That was the CDC’s fault.
Second, we weren’t going to turn the busses around and expose the passengers to an even longer time with the 14.
Third, the 14 were isolated at the airport and placed in special containment.
Fourth, it’s to be expected that 11 of the 13 tested positive again at Omaha. Where’s the surprise? They don’t think an ebola facility can handle Sars-lite?
Fifth, the CDC is there to advise, not dictate, and so far their batting average hasn’t been so hot on the DP and neither has their travel advice.
Sixth, the DP quarantine was ending in three days anyway, a complete failure that had subjected the passengers to unbelievable stress.
Seventh, we extended the quarantine for those we rescued for another 2 weeks. What is the CDC doing to track those allowed off the ship at end of quarantine?
And finally, they tell us not to panic, refuse to recommend further restrictions on foreign nationals flying into the US, and then tell us it’s Armageddon.
So, the CDC can go suck a lemon. Give us the kits, give us the numbers, and knock off with the snowflake political dramatics.

I just heard on Fox News that Nancy Messonier (CDC) says people released from quarantine are not an infection hazard. Really? How long was that quarantine? Are they clear of corona virus in fecal samples as well as throat and lung?

China is reporting "cured" patients coming back reinfected. Were they every really clear/cured or was there latent virus that reactivated?

To have four deaths already Iran must have hundreds of cases. We should have nuked China two weeks ago. Oh well. Live and learn. Lol.

Agree!

The CDC is trying to play politics AND place blame, for their own “idiotic” actions.

The health minister of Iran just admitted that every city in Iran has the infection. When will the US government speak truth to its people ?

Only three US states can test for coronavirus, says public lab group

California, Nebraska and Illinois are the only U.S. states that can currently test for coronavirus, the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) told Reuters on Friday.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) last week said some of the testing kits sent to U.S. states and at least 30 countries produced “inconclusive” results due to a flawed component and the CDC planned to send replacement materials to make the kits work.

I wonder about it. There are a lot of Obamacommie holdovers In these agencies. Their dreams of impeachment failed, is this the scorched earth, last resort? It would not take many to make things break down, a missed shipment, a memo that didn’t get sent, a contaminated reagent strip. It’s not like we haven’t seen people try and destroy him from the inside from day one.

they're getting on my last nerve. Complaining only 3 states have kits - when they can't even mail kits to the right freaking state! example: Hawaii And when they do manage to get them out, they're broken or a reagent is wrong or half a dozen other lack of attention to detail issues. It borders on sabotage. And their biggest issue is the State Dept overruled them?

So much for thinking our CDC was miles better than China CDC. Heads need to roll.
