Then, there is this...

...Update (1240ET): As we mentioned below, the CDC had some pretty chilling words for the American public during a press conference on Friday. During the 12:15pm ET update, the organization warned that it had centralized ‘surge’ virus response due to a lack of testing kits and the fact that every state but three is unprepared for the epidemic.

During the press conference, the CDC described the virus as a “tremendous public healht threat” and warned that human to human transmission in the US is “very possible, even likely.”

The announcement comes after the Washington Post reported last night that the CDC opposed the State Department’s decision to bring the 14 Americans confirmed to have been infected with the virus aboard the ‘Diamond Princess’ back to the US with the other ~300 evacuees - thereby breaking the quarantine and risking a broader outbreak, and exposing many of the passengers on the flight who hadn’t been infected to the virus.

The CDC was so mad, it reportedly asked for its name to be removed from a press release about the evacuation.

We also noted at the time that the decision to break the quarantine and bring the 14 infected persons back seemed idiotic.

So far, it’s looking like that’s exactly what’s happening: As we noted earlier, 11 of 13 people quarantined in Nebraska have now tested positive.

Just imagine what happens if it hits Omaha, or Chicago. Or New York (which has already had a few scares):

CDC is...mad.

Just last week they said the risk to the US was very very low.

Would love to know how many nevertrumpers and ‘resistance’ peeps there are in the CDC.

Odds are, at least these cases, they got the virus on the ship...just like the other 10 Americans now positive in Japan that were negative on the ship

The dill pickle (and doubtless “Never-Trumper”) in the State Dept. who greenlighted this could be liable for crimes against humanity (deliberately infecting innocent civilians with a deadly disease), don’t you suppose?

First of all, as CDC knows, the DP folks were in transit to the airport when the CDC popped the news 14 had tested positive. That was the CDC’s fault.
Second, we weren’t going to turn the busses around and expose the passengers to an even longer time with the 14.
Third, the 14 were isolated at the airport and placed in special containment.
Fourth, it’s to be expected that 11 of the 13 tested positive again at Omaha. Where’s the surprise? They don’t think an ebola facility can handle Sars-lite?
Fifth, the CDC is there to advise, not dictate, and so far their batting average hasn’t been so hot on the DP and neither has their travel advice.
Sixth, the DP quarantine was ending in three days anyway, a complete failure that had subjected the passengers to unbelievable stress.
Seventh, we extended the quarantine for those we rescued for another 2 weeks. What is the CDC doing to track those allowed off the ship at end of quarantine?
And finally, they tell us not to panic, refuse to recommend further restrictions on foreign nationals flying into the US, and then tell us it’s Armageddon.
So, the CDC can go suck a lemon. Give us the kits, give us the numbers, and knock off with the snowflake political dramatics.

Those testing positive are being treated as new cases, but I’m pretty sure they are the same ones that tested positive in Japan and flew home in the biocontainment boxes. There were 14 of them.
