Yes and when the Shah fell the country was plunged back centuries. Those who remember those days keep hope alive for the younger generation. Many were executed so those left either migrated to other places or live with heads down not daring to expose their thoughts.
The older generations have been beaten down so much for so long and can only long for the good old days.

The voice of the Iranian people is clear. They are fed up with the regimes lies, corruption, ineptitude, and brutality of the IRGC under @khamenei_ir's kleptocracy. We stand with the Iranian people who deserve a better future. pic.twitter.com/tBOjv9XsIG— Secretary Pompeo (@SecPompeo) January 11, 2020

Watching these massive crowds across Iran chanting Death to Soleimani! is more than a bit odd after being told how revered and inspiring he was to the population just last week by many in U.S. media...— Joe Concha (@JoeConchaTV) January 11, 2020

Hi Gran....
Is this the post that was in Arabic? There’s another one up now, but I don’t know how to get a translation lol.
Oh I think he’s posting in English, then also posting the same thing in Arabic. Takes me a few minutes, but I usually figure things out lol.

The government of Iran must allow human rights groups to monitor and report facts from the ground on the ongoing protests by the Iranian people. There can not be another massacre of peaceful protesters, nor an internet shutdown. The world is watching.

“President Donald Trump sent a message written in Persian to Iranians who were openly protesting the countrys oppressive Islamic government on Saturday, which comes in response to Iran admitting this week that it shot down a passenger plane.”
