That is a great perspective. I had the same experience when I went to two cornea specialists to get information about my keratoconus. Everything went wrong at the first visit. The staff was obnoxious, they made me pay even though I have met my out-of-pocket Max, and I called the insurance company while I was standing there and they didn’t care. I had to wait an hour. The doctor came in and seemed in a hurry. I found out later he had to do emergency surgery earlier in the day. He looked at my cornea map briefly and said he didn’t think I had keratoconus. Or that I had it but it had stabilized in my thirties. He said my vision problems were because of cataracts.

Now that I know that, there’s about three hundred questions I should have asked. My mind was in a fog because all my questions were about keratoconus so I just stared at him. He was really nice though, gave me some basic information, I did manage to ask if they were far enough along for surgery and he said yes, I have more than one of the issues that insurance will cover for surgery already. I couldn’t think of anything else to say and he asked if I had any more questions. I just sat there dumbly. He wasn’t pushy about surgery at all though. He did say I would probably get five months or so out of my new pair of glasses and then I would either need to have surgery or have diminished Vision until I have it.

But I felt extremely comfortable with him. And like he knew what he was doing and it would all work out. I felt that way with the doctor that did my strabismus surgery. There’s nothing like that feeling, of trusting someone that’s going to cut into you.

Then when I left I tried to get a follow-up appointment and I had to wait until March. They were snooty again.

But I felt so comfortable with him that I called and called for cancellations until I got an appointment the end of January.

Everything went wrong and yet I felt like he knew what he was doing and I would get good treatment. That had to be the Lord at work! Normally I don’t trust any doctor, I’ve been to too many bad ones.

His BFF just had 2 stents put in and is doing so much better so I don’t think he is too worried.

Not looking forward to procedure but is looking forward to feeling better.
