What is the craziest unexplained event you have witnessed?

What is the craziest unexplained event you have witnessed? Jennifer Scholl, MSW from The Ohio State University (2018) First, let me say that I am and remain a huge sceptic, even after this happened. I’ve thought of every possible explanation and I still have no idea how this happened. Whether you choose to believe me or not, I have no reason to make this up and like I said, I’m skeptical every time I hear a story like this. But nonetheless, here is the completely unexplainable event I witnessed:

In 1999, my mother was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and was put on multiple drugs, including prednisone. She was having seizures and her over all mental and physical functioning were being severely impacted by the tumor. Her doctor very stupidly failed to mention that the high dose of prednisone he’d put her on causes potassium to leech out of the body, so she went into hypokalemia. Her heart stopped and the jolt when she hit the floor was hard enough to cause it to restart, enabling her to call 911. I was asleep at the time in the house and woke up to my brother telling me that police and paramedics were downstairs working on her.

We kept an eye on the situation that night because it was looking catastrophic, as they had to keep going back in to resuscitate her. Eventually we went home (they kicked us out basically) and just hoped she’d make it through the night while they pumped her full of potassium and other drugs through her IV. The next morning, we hadn’t heard a word and assumed she was doing fine. I got up and came in to see her and was relieved to find her awake and alert. She was also very loopy and positively euphoric. The first thing she told me was that she’d left her body the night before, and found herself walking with Jesus on a beach. She was so ecstatic, talking about this amazing experience she’d had, that Jesus had told her it wasn’t her time yet and that she still had many years yet to live.

My response was… let’s just say there was a lot smiling, nodding, placating “oh wow that sounds amazing, Mom”-type responses from me. I was secretly thinking that whatever drugs they’d given her must have been… uh… the “good stuff” if you know what I mean! So after maybe 15 or 20 minutes of this, her nurse came in to check her over, and so this woman also got to hear the story, and like me was clearly very amused and just going along with it.

When the nurse pulled back the sheets to look at my mother’s feet and ankles, I heard the nurse gasp and freeze, like she had no idea what to do. I looked over and saw what had her so shocked, and needless to say, I did the same. My mother’s legs were covered in sand, almost up to her knees. Like she’d been walking on a windy beach and the sand had gradually got stuck to her legs as she walked in the surf. The nurse peeled her socks off (which were the socks issued by the hospital and put on her feet the night before), and found that her feet were also covered in sand, and it was even between her toes. She ran out to get other staff in, and before we knew it, there was a parade of doctors, nurses and patient aides coming through the room to look at my mom’s sand-covered feet. I could hear people in the hallway debating how a woman in Ohio, nowhere near any sand at all, whose heart had stopped several times in the night and who had sensors on her body to detect if she got out of bed, was able to walk through sand, despite the fact that she hadn’t been covered in any when she got there. If she had been covered in sand, they would have noticed and cleaned her off when they dressed her and put the socks on her feet. No one was ever able to come up with a logical explanation, it’s not like they were keeping sand traps in the hallway! And we certainly weren’t keeping big sand pits, or any sand period, at home. They later gave her the socks in a baggie, still covered in sand.

In the end, my mother did survive the brain tumor, despite being told she had 6 months at most. She found what was at the time a new, experimental treatment, called stereotactic radiosurgery and underwent the procedure as only the 6th patient to ever have it done, and in the end it saved her life. She had more than 15 happy years with us before dying of breast cancer almost 4 years ago, and always kept those socks as a reminder of the time she walked with Jesus. So whether you believe it or not, that is the strangest, most unexplainable event I’ve ever witnessed in my life.

I wonder if it would be customary for the nurse to check such a patient’s feet and ankles first thing.

Sweet story and I would love to believe it. But I don’t.

And the author does not insist you do. I myself allows that such could have a natural explanation, even as one who finds belief in Jesus Christ as being evidentially warranted. But I should have prefaced my comment "An interesting and or inspiring story for Saturday morning.

At the '67 World's Fair in Montreal, our senior class guys were housed in an apartment of bunks (small school---15 -17 of us) . I woke the next morning across the hall in a similar apartment of a school group from Hamilton, Ontario in the only empty cot in their apartment.

I don't know how I got there. I had been sleepwalking, so that's a likely explanation, but don't know who let me in, or how I found the only empty bed. Oddly, the cot I left in our room was 18" from the cot on the other side of the wall. doo doo doo doo ...doo doo doo doo.

It was very early when their chaperone woke me and asked who the hell I was. I returned across the hall where my mates were still asleep. When I told the story, no one believed me.

It's not overly freaky, but too good of a story not to share, imho.

“ The craziest, unexplainable event I have witnessed is why all the obvious traitors aren’t hanged on the WDC mall.”

That’s an easy one...there are simply too many of them. There are probably more than 100 million traitors or supporters of traitors in America today. That kind of thing is handled by bloody civil wars, not a civil justice system.

I have to say the way that God took me and changed me into the man I am today. If I had not been saved back on October 25, 1976 I would have turned out like the rest of my family, if not in an early grave.

Salvation is an absolute miracle . . . and I can attest to it. Not only in my life, but in many of those that I know, my wife, and my kids.

God is good, all the time!

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

I’ve got a similar weird story involving mysterious transport from one place to another while driving. Started out on one highway, ended up on a non-intersecting parallel highway 10 miles west.

That’s pretty cool.

One night I watched one of those “black triangles” glide over my ridge and onto parts unknown.

Hubby was mad that I didn’t go get him so he could see it, too, but I didn’t want to miss it, myself.

This may not be the kind of response you’re looking for but it’s certainly true. About 8 years ago my brother found my mother collapsed in her house. She was taken to Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, IL, where doctors said she was suffering from heart failure. Over the next few weeks she seemed to recover. She was alert, but uncommunicative. The hospital said they had to release her and told Mike he needed to find a nursing home. Mike called me to discuss it and I decided to drive back to Illinois from Colorado to see how I could help. He called me while I was going through Kansas and said they were getting ready to move her out of the hospital room and he planned to take her to his house where he thought he could care for her. After we disconnected, I shot a prayer to God, not asking for any miracle of healing but simply saying that Mom had been His faithful servant all of her life and it would be a blessing if He would call her home. I had barely said “amen” when Mike called back and said that when he had returned to her room with the nurses Mom was dead. Obviously I can’t prove that there was any divine intervention but I remain convinced that God answers prayer.

My unbelievable story was when I was a teenager, living alone in Hollywood while I finished high school. My father had kicked me out early - I was the oldest of ten and a mouthy male so he had had enough of me.

I lived in a converted garage off Los Palmas avenue and I worked evenings at J.C Penny's selling shoes and then did my homework after I got home from work after 10:30.

One evening while riding back to my apartment from work on my Honda 90, I lost my paycheck. I spent several hours that night looking for it along the road but no luck. Since I was young and inexperienced, I didn't know that they could have just reissued the check.

I called the Honda finance people to let them know that I would be late for the payment and told my angry French landlady that my rent would be delayed a week and learned even more obscene French phrases from her.

I had no food in my place at all and it never occurred to me to beg or steal, so I just hunkered down to not eat for a week until my next payday.

On day four or so, I started to faint in class. I was also starting to run low in gas (my commute between school and work and the apartment was about 60 miles). That evening I was riding back to Hollywood and I spotted a guy hitchhiking on Ventura Boulevard and I stopped t ask him where he needed to go. He looked like he was about 30 and he was wearing a brand-new looking double-breasted suit, had brown and white saddle oxfords on and had a new-looking leather suitcase. In 1962 that mode of dress seemed to be about 15-20 years out of style but the guy seemed OK. He said he need to get to Beverly Hills and hadn't found a taxi. I asked him where in Beverly Hills (hoping it was someplace I wouldn't know, so I wouldn't have to backtrack miles away) and he told me "Laurel Way" - the one street there I knew really well, since a friend of mine lived there.

I gave him a ride there and when we reached the address he gave me, he hopped off and offered me some money - which I turned down. He insisted in at least giving me gas money and I said OK, 25 cents (the price of one gallon of gas) and he handed me a dollar. I turned towards him to tell him that it was too much and he was gone. I looked in every direction, nothing.

I rolled my bike downhill with the engine off to save gas and when I found a gas station to fill the bike, I discovered that the bill he gave me was a ten, not a one and I ate like a king that evening!

I believed then and still believe all these years later that I had met an angel.

Wow! What a strange thing to happen. Did it ever happen again, the sleep walking?

I went to that World’s Fair Expo ‘67. I would have been 8. Not so odd as to not be believeable, but we met a family at church Sunday am on the way to the fair. (May have been the pastor’s family) We spent the afternoon with that family who had eight kids. Had the BEST time.

Now it would be odd for me to step foot in Canada.
