It blended in well with grandma's couch, but had its drawbacks in the combat zone.

After an extended wear-out period, the Army's pixelated Universal Camouflage Pattern uniform, or UCP, is officially a thing of the past. As of Oct. 1, all soldiers are required to possess and wear the green-and-brown Operational Camouflage Pattern uniform, or OCP.

I always thought the best looking uniforms for the U.S. are the Navy officers dress whites. The Marines are close.

As far as camouflage, it depends on the environment.

I do know that I am more likely to miss a car is when it is grayish blue. I guess that is also a common pavement color.

That's what I call myself now:

PFC-For-life Viking

1st Civ Div

Fort Living Room, AL

I couldn't squeeze myself into my old BDU's if I was six months dead. LOL!

BDUs worked well enough for me in the 90s in the Army.

Ive seen the new retro Army Dress Uniforms. They look nice, hearkening back to the WW2 era look.

Ditching uniforms seems to be a trend lately...

Good riddance, blueberries! Navy bids farewell to its worst uniform ever

Starting Oct. 1, sailors who are currently being forged by the sea will at long last no longer blend in with it.

After 11 perilous years of parading around looking like victims of an airplane toilet explosion, the Navy finally is saying sayonara to the Type I Navy Working Uniform, a heinous half-nylon boondoggle that not only wasted hundreds of millions of dollars but endangered the lives of everyone who donned the accursed “blueberry."

Of course it was selected because it was proven to be the best at providing concealment in a variety of environments.

Haha, you and me both are stationed at Fort Living Room.
And like you, my BDUS shrunk!

Let’s have an informal Freeper Fort Living Room roll call.
You don’t even have to get off the couch!

I think they used computer programs to develop that pattern using optical models, etc. Probably the same ones they use for global warming models.

“Our computers have proven scientifically that this is the optimum camouflage for most terrain.”

“Um - the guy is RIGHT there!!”

“Nope - SCIENCE!”

I always thought, IMHO, that MARCAM was the best followed by wood land camo for blending into a variety of environments.
