I don't blame PGE. They were sued for Billions of dollars from the fires burning towns down.

In the 18 years I lived there I don't recall PGE having this problem of the trees hitting the wires and sparking fires. It wasn't until the environmentalists and the governors forbid them from cutting back trees to prevent this from happening. Better no electricity then having your home or town burned down.

California residents have been warned since early this year that PGE was going to do this so they should have prepared for it. Towns with no forest areas around will also be effected but that is because they are on the same GRID and it can't be helped.

True. But that also means CA politicians & utility operators have had many months to do something to correct the problem. How do other states/areas with trees & wind & electricity handle the problem or something?

I don't know what the solution is, but can't the power lines be put under ground or better insulated?

Are we going to have to put up with this every time the wind blows? If not, whatever they are going to do to fix it, why hasn't it already been done?

I'm not trying to be combative, I really don't know what the solution is, but it just seems like poor planning by our CA politicians & the utilities.

I blame the politicians for being such environmental wacko weenies who will not let trees be cut, forest floors cleaned or anything to help keep a disastrous fire at bay.

We live in a YUGE pine forest and have periodic prescribed burns to help keep our forests healthy and helps with not giving a forest fire loads of fuel.

We do have lightening strikes and idiots who go camping and forget to drown their fires before leaving them.
