It doesn’t matter if it’s sugary or diet: New study links all soda to an early death
Washington Post ^ | Sep. 4, 2019 | Laura Reiley

Hold up, diet soda drinkers. Regular consumption of soft drinks — both sugar-sweetened and artificially sweetened — was associated with a greater risk of all causes of death, according to research published this week in JAMA Internal Medicine.

Participants who drank two or more glasses of soft drinks per day had a higher risk of mortality than those who consumed less than one glass per month.

I turn 72 in a few weeks. When will this early death hit me? And all these years I’ve been worried about the asteroid!

Oh, woe is me!

50 percent of people die a premature death.

Some of us never mature, so that throws the Bell Curve WAY out of whack!

Ah, go ahead, let the secret out.

“Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.” 1 Timothy 5:23

Lots of folks switch to Diet Coke because they have become very overweight or have other health issues. They drink it BECAUSE they already have health problems.

It is like saying people who wear arch supports are more likely to have problems with their feet.

Studies have determined that if you eat right, don’t drink, don’t smoke and get plenty of rest and exercise you get 8 more years in an old folks home.

Vodka + ice = liver problems
Rum + ice = kidney probs
Whiskey + ice = heart probs
Gin + ice = brain probs

Conclusion: ice leads to health problems!

“Soda kills more people than guns.”
Which suggests, according to Democrat candidates, soda is a better green alternative.

So I guess Hugh Hefner’s dozen or so Pepsi’s a day saved him from living to 200.

“Correlation is not causation”

Satisfaction of three criteria are essential to prove any broad theory. They describe the relationship between a proven theory and the evidence supporting it.

1) DATA: Every concept and every generalization contained within the theory must be derived from observations by a valid method.

2) INTEGRATION: A proven theory must form an integrated whole. The various parts of the theory are interconnected and mutually reinforcing, so that the denial of of any part leads to contradictions throughout the whole. Every theory must have this characteristic in order to be necessitated by the evidence

3) SCOPE: The scope of a proven theory must be determined by the data from which it is induced. The theory must be no broader or narrower than required to integrate the data.

I think any moron who reads these things especially from a newspaper or broadcast and does anything to change their diet on the bass of it is a complete idiot and a fool.

It is rumored that Donald Trump drinks at least a 6 pack of Diet Coke daily. I am not seeing the premature death here. He still flies up the stairs for Air Force 1.

Sounds like one of those “correlation is not causation” studies. People with bad diet habits are probably more likely to drink soda than health nuts are.

Aren’t most people (OBVIOUSLY not all!) who drink diet sodas overweight to begin with, that’s why they drink diet soda? Don’t other factors play a more significant role in their “premature” deaths?

More people die in hospitals than anywhere else. Time to ban hospitals.

One of my co-workers drinks several diet sodas a day. He is well over 350 lbs and is a heart attack waiting to happen. We drink an occasional regular Coke in the car while traveling but we stick to flavored seltzer at home for the most part.
