Video games. Why were there no mass shootings until the advent of video games in the late eighties-early nineties?
An age-old debate.
Videogames: Stimulus or Catharsis?
Does the FPS game cause players to become violent (stimulus)?
-OR-
Does the FPS game offer players an emotional release (catharsis)?
IMO, it depends on who’s playing the game.
Yes. Copy cat, now also called media contagion.
It is why these events tend to occur in clusters.
The media love these events for profit and to push ideological gun control.
Since Mueller failed, they are on to the next plan but they are running short on time.
I would bet that to all but one in a million, it is simply a skill challenge.
Like trying for a hole in one.
Or hitting a bulls eye at 300 yards with your favorite rifle.
The entertainment industry must claim a lot of credit. How many movies are there where violence and destruction are the main feature. I'm not talking about war movies. I'm talking about movies where criminals and thugs are portrayed as glamorous, romantic and exciting. Bad people are portrayed as the heroes. Consider the Oceans series of movies where criminals were the heroes because they robbed worse criminals. Consider the TV series Scandal. There were no good people in that show. They all did abhorrent things yet they were the stars of the show. This is what is being modeled for our youth from their earliest years on.
Perhaps the greatest contributor is the promotion of a society of victim-hood. Every one is a victim. So, grab a gun, a knife, a baseball bat or whatever and strike out against those who are oppressing you. One common thread in mass killings is that the assailant believed they had a good reason for doing it.
These are all higher functioning individuals and certainly do know the difference but they just dont care.
Really? Video games? That’s what you think is behind shootings?
Christ on a bike.
Probably so.
I agree with the premise, but the foundation of it all is tearing innocent lives from the womb so casually.
Weve had multiple generations taught that this is normal and a right.
These “selected” mass shooting perps are probably covered by so many camo layers that the string pullers will never be id’d.
LOL. Well, I don't remember any of those events in a headline. ;)
Some of the most popular shooter games back then used pistol shape controllers or you controlled a pointing pistol with a joystick. Both contributed to instant point-and-shoot accuracy. and yes, the military did use those same games for instant point-and-shoot training for a time until they developed their own.I take the Army’s implied word over speculation about keyboards and joysticks.

/////////////////
Video games, psychotropic drugs, destruction of the family, and elimination of God
I stand corrected...1972.
No, before that.
I hope many more Americans begin to consider this. Last night on either National Geographic or the History Channel there was a program about some of the horrible things that the CIA has done. This is finally coming out on television and not for the first time. The CIA invented LSD and used it on unknowing subjects. The CIA has worked with Porton Downs in England to create and test poisons and drugs. LSD was used on a small village in Europe where people went insane and even killed themselves. Frank Olsen, a scientist at the CIA became disturbed by these actions and wanted to leave the CIA. He was found dead on a New York side walk after falling [or being pushed] out of a hotel window.
We have witnessed the FBI and CIA under Obama conspiring as a police state in order to overturn the Donald Trump election. This is not America anymore. Now they want to remove our last resort —self defense.
Blaming video games is as silly as blaming guns.
Yes, he killed 168 people.
Already mentioned the Texas Tower shooting in 1966.
