Pageant veteran Madison Anderson, representing Toa Baja, was crowned the new Miss Universe Puerto Rico in glittering finale held June 13 at the Centro de Bellas Artes de Santurce in San Juan.
The 23-year-old marketing and public relations student bested 27 other candidates for the right to represent the Caribbean island in the next edition of the Miss Universe competition.
~ Snip ~
Anderson was born and raised in Orlando, Florida to a Puerto Rican mother and American Father. Before joining Miss Universe Puerto Rico, she was first runner-up in Miss Florida USA 2019. In 2016, she represented Puerto Rico in Miss Grand International and placed 3rd runner-up.
Puerto Rico is one of the winningest countries in Miss Universe history with 5 crowns. The island last won the title in 2006 with Zuleyka Rivera.

Hmmm
King Donald, make it so.
Who originally populated the island in 1491?
A central/south American Indian tribe almost certainly, but did many (or any recognizable families or individuala at all) survive the next centuries of disease and wars and hurricanes?
See, she is the classic reason I never married a Puerto Rican girl. I couldn’t find one that looked like her.
Puerto Rico also fields its own Olympic teams, in which, interestingly enough, many people who don’t make it to the US Olympic team, participate.
We even have a Winter Olympics team, from time to time.
No, not many, if any. Most Islanders are in fact descendants of Andalusians, which is the people who pupulated Spanish America in the most numbers.
Excellent!
At first I thought it was the Miss America contestant and I thought “oh, so she’s probably got horned rim glasses, pimples, and wears lots of baggy flannel to impress Gretchen Carlson’s idea of a modern beauty queen. I’ll pass on this thread.” Then I realized it was Miss Universe and everything changed....
And Andalusia was controlled by the Moors for the 700 years just prior to Columbus setting sail and in those 700 years at least a few native Spaniards may have ... and I’m just speculating here ... may have consorted with the North African muslim conquers. In this admittedly unlikely event of two peoples living together for 700 years possibly intermingling in a bilibal sense, it’s possible that some of that North African / arabian bloodline seeped into the Andalusian one. Again, pure speculation.
Not guilty!

I’m sorry but the correct answer is “the Moops”

I see her roots. She has naturally dark hair.
A girl who is actually comfortable in her own skin being a girl.
Gee, that takes me back.
She is lovely.
Somewhere, somebodys fed up with her crap.
She’s even sweeter in post 30!
Oh, that much is obvious. Carthaginian heritage, we call it.
