So, is anyone watching/renting it on this 75th anniversary of the greatest invasion in world history?

My family and I are watching it.

I’m watching it. John Wayne just broke his ankle in a swamp and is walking north to drop off point for the paratroopers. Many of the paratroopers fell on the French town north of the destination and were massacred by the Germans in the town square.

I would have watched if I knew it was on.

My high school English teacher played it for us in class, over the course of four days. Shows you how much times have changed. Now they show the kids “An Inconvenient Truth”, and the like.

Seen it. More than once.

Best part is the Brit who is told to take a bridge and “hold until relieved”

Right before Intermission Peter Lawford shows up with a bagpipe, and the echo thought voice inside the Brit’s head says “hold until relieved”

Of course that was back in the day when people didn’t stream in and out of the theater all through the film’s showing.

Have watched many times, but tonight I’m watching ‘The Cold Blue’ the HBO documentary on the 8th AF. My dad was a waist gunner on a B17.

There was a German actor (can’t recall his name just no) who made it out before Hitler had everything shut Germany down.

He played in many American and British war films, with one proviso: that he would always play an evil German, not sympathetic guy for he stated that no Nazi should ever be mistaken as anything but evil.

I was always amazed by that.

I thought about my favorite scene today as Trump and Macaroni stood at the overlook at Colleville, gazing out at the channel.

My top scene is when the Kraut in the bunker sees the invasion fleet appear out of the fog. Chills every time I watch the movie.
