There was a German actor (can’t recall his name just no) who made it out before Hitler had everything shut Germany down.

He played in many American and British war films, with one proviso: that he would always play an evil German, not sympathetic guy for he stated that no Nazi should ever be mistaken as anything but evil.

I was always amazed by that.

The name of the proud actor’s, (who happened also to be German) was Conrad Veidt!

He played the part of the Nazi that is shot in the film Casablanca!
