A Memorial Day question about RVN JUNGLE ROT. Did you get rid of it? Forever? How?
Most of the Grunts I have known and many others acquired this personal reminder of RVN.
Because of a head wound and no insurance, I used the VA for a few years and they provided a medication. After lucking into a solid health plan I went a Dermatologist once a month for a few years, it turned out he was a schemer. Last visit he was on vacation, his stand in said , the only to get rid of it was to shower and change clothes three times a day! And that was a maybe.
My father in law was a Physician, so he would call in the same prescription (Tri-???Something). Worked but it never ever disappeared.
A few of years ago the Pharmacist, a former RVN guy, said there is newer and better stuff and it is over the counter, no script needed. He recommended tow different products. LAMISIL!!! It worked well!!! But not a permanent solution? Returns every couple of weeks.
A year back I was bushwhacked by poison ivy, head eyes This Dermatologist proscribed TACROLIMUS 0.1%. for both problems. It worked like a champ!!!
And just now a year later, IT IS BACK???
I work out four times a week , bike, rollers spin bike, rower...always sweat like a horse, everything soaked, puddles under the rollers.
Has anyone found a permanent cure for jungle rot???
“His”?
:)
Not to keep belaboring the point but here’s a great website about it: https://draxe.com/tea-tree-oil-uses-benefits/
After adopting a cat with ringworm, I was told to wash with Selsun Blue dandruff shampoo. When researching it online, I read that it contains Selenium Sulfide and that it’s effective against fungal skin infections. It might be worth a try.
He has a serious bacterial infection.
Youre a real renaissance....whatever. A medical degree AND a law degree.
Where did you get them?
L
I’ve read that Oil of Oregano is similar to Tea Tree oil for fungal infections, but that it burns.
Cotton socks retain moisture. Polyester Spandex socks do not. Believe it or not but cotton socks are terrible. I was under the misconception that cotton good polly bad for most of my life. Then I went into a long distance runners shoe store and boy did I learn a lot. Good mesh running shoes with polly socks is about all I wear and my feet are never sweaty or stinky anymore even after mowing.
Doesn’t change the fact you are a Jackwagon.
Yeast is a type of fungus.
That is more then my GD VA doctor did this last couple of weeks. I had a end-of-life shortness of breath experience Wednesday. Untreated barely walking pneumonia, imagine that. The moron reporting the chest x-rays said I had interstitial lung disease. Sent me the F’ck home with no further treatment, blood work, or anything. I had to go outside the system for antibiotics. If my sister hadn’t sent me those Mullein capsules that I made a tea out of, I wouldn’t have made it. It was an immediate 50% improvement in my condition.
Bad JuJu, welcome to my world.
I also have various forms of arthritis along with skin condition, I was put on Cosentyx and also TACROLIMUS 0.1% solution as a topical.
Didn’t do crap for the arthritis, however my skin looks great. Was told once I stop using Cosentyx, the skin conditions will come back within 6 months.
I had a rash on the inside of my right leg since running in those stupid shorty short Marines were issued. I had it for nearly 45 years. My nurse practitioner prescribed this crème that cured it! Mometasone Furoate. I had tried all kinds of stuff in the past.
The Fungus Amongst Us,,,
Apologies to all the Vets
that brought this Back.
You’re burdens should not
include this constant reminder.
One day I read that Apple Cidar Vinegar, which apparently is the wonder cure for pretty much anything, worked on rashes.
Being mentally challenged with the belief that if a little is good, a lot will be awesome!, I went full strength ACV on the now scratched raw rash on both forearms.
Boy howdy, what an eye watering experience that turned out to be, but the itch was gone and the rash soon after that.
However, the itch came back with a vengeance when that dead layer of skin began to slough off.
Next I learned how a quality hair brush is very effective for both scratching and for removing the dead skin.
As a side benefit, the keratosis spots just came off like an old scab and now my old, sun damaged skin actually looks better, smoother and less wrinkled, too.
ACV seems to work, but I definitely wont be using full strength again! Half power is probably more my speed.
That is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
well, i’m not sure this is helpful, but from responses I read and having dealt with my body having detox effect that left me for 10 days with not wanting my arms and legs to touch or rub on anything because of itchiness some things to consider:
wear something that is disposable but absorbs sweat between legs or wherever needed in your case?
You need to sweat, it’s very important to being healthy - so why not take a daily or every two day bath in baking soda or epsom salt or some thing that the hot/warm water allows your body to sweat out some of the bad stuff? baths helped me so much when I had that 10 day full body purge through my pores - I just wanted to stay in the water. quick shower after to rinse your whole body. OR if not baths at least make showers long enought for body to sweat out toxins and use baking soda or other sorts of soaps and scrubs?
they sell some thing called moneky butt powder that may have ingredients that could help temporarily too.
Getting it gone for good may not happen but sweating is important to health, absorbing the sweating and keeping area clean and dry likely help a lot.
when you mow lawn or such wear disposable briefs or some thing that fits areas needed - may bedisposables good so you are not laundering and maybe though “clean” laundry may be some hting still living on the laundered items and a part of aiding in the recurrent irritation?
*** ALSO body PH may be helpful to kill off or keep it subdued. Eat higher PH foods (can look up lists on line) most fungus, ailments like acidic environment so reducing acidity or your body (raisning alkalinity) may help internally fight the issue - along with topical ideas or OTC or RX that you find helping best.
Tea tree oil is serious OTC medicine. Nothing irresponsible about that post. It doesn’t work for everyone, but works for many with skin infections.
