It amazes me that people think eating an organ one time will magically cure mental illness, improve vitamin B12 levels, etc.
Many animals eat the placenta after birth. I believe this is a natural reaction to removing anything that a predator can smell, more than a health benefit.
I’ve also noticed a cow will also eat paper towels in which a veterinarian or farmer has used to wipe down the new born calf.
There was a cartoon about steamed placenta with organic onions in the National Lampoon, early 70’s. I know mama cows consume it after calving, having seen it more than once on a cattle ranch.
