- Bob Dylan
- Rolling Stones
- Neil Young
- Paul McCartney
- The Who
- Roger Waters
3 nights, 6 acts, 2 per night in the order listed above. McCartney of course was the Beatles, and Waters Pink Floyd.
Tickets were very pricey - we were comped from a client. Attendees were those who made real money in the preceding years.
You can’t repeat iconic unstaged events such as this.
I was 18 and living in Central NY at the time of Woodstock and never heard about it until after it was over. Found out later that it was mostly NY City hippies gone out to the country.
Byron, Georgia to be Exact. Summer 1970. The kids went back to their respective colleges and high schools and had a big MJ party that lasted for about a year and a half before they realized that they were sick and tired of constantly being sick and tired. And then Duane Allmond wrecked his motorcycle and the narcs were swarming all over Macon, Ga. Greg Allmond turned states evidence against the dealers and some where in the story it was reported that Duane Allmond weighed 75 lbs at the Macon County Morgue. Yet for what it was worth, that 1970 music festival was possibly one of the best outdoor multi-day concerts ever.
Just weeks before Woodstock, the Newport Jazz Festival was held with many similarities including many of the same bands that were at Woodstock. All the stores and restaurants ran out of everything, but basically, a good time was had by all.
The 1970 Isle of Wight Festival was much better. There The Who may have played the greatest Rock Concert, ever.
Im sure it was! Actually there were a few bands at Newport that were also at Woodstock. I remember Ten Years after for sure. And Sly and the family Stone. For many of us that was our first look at Led Zep! Jimmy Page was an amazing sight to behold to all of us who played guitar!
Jeff Beck played on Friday night. That was pretty amazing too. Along with Jethro Tull.
Yep! (Snicker, snicker)
The Rolling Who. Bing Crosby, Stills and Ogden Nash, The Grateful What...
Saw them in Tampa in, maybe '75. Then saw Alvin Lee (sort of) solo in a small club in New Haven around '90.
The video of him doing "I'm coming Home" is an all-time classic. They don't make them like that anymore.
No. They were going to have it at Watkins Glenn. And they were going to charge $450.00 per ticket. And there are not more than two bands that would be worth seeing.
“...we dont believe the production of the festival can be executed as an event worthy of the Woodstock Brand name while also ensuring the health and safety of the artists, partners and attendees.”
Talk about having your hands tied behind your back - the original Woodstock didn’t give a crap about health and safety, so why should these organizers?

NYS.
Nuff said.
I was too young for Woodstock, I recently watched on youtube the Moody Blues at Isle of Wright 1970, 700 thousand and they all looked a lot cleaner and composed then the filth at Max Yasgur’s farm....
