HA!
The only ‘festival’ I made it to. Had way too little money, hitchhiked, (was in high school- so ...) no ticket.
Bunch of us went to the back, the Sheriff got up on a jeep with a bullhorn and told us to be good. After he left we knocked down the fence and went in.
Only lasted the first day. I think a hamburger was $10. Anyway, I couldn’t afford anything.
Remember PG&E, and a great act by King Crimson.
Had to make a report to my english class.
Thanks for the rundowns.
I went to the “Newport Pop Festival” in ‘68, both days. Filled my head with constant music for about a week ... a weird experience. Quite a few well known groups at that one: Jefferson Airplane, Byrds, Steppenwolf, Chambers Brothers, Country Joe & the Fish, Tiny Tim, Sonny & Cher, Grateful Dead, Quicksilver MS, Alice Cooper, Eric Burden. I remember moments here and there. Where I sat all went well, but I know it had its share of drug problems, gate-crashers, heat, and shortages.
I intended to go to Altamont. Fortunately, I nearly froze riding my motorcycle up the coast and turned back.
