As former Vice President Joe Biden prepares to enter the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, he’s doing so as the front-runner, polling ahead of both fellow Democrats and President Donald Trump.
A new Morning Consult/Politico poll conducted April 19-21 among 1,992 registered voters found Biden leading the president by 8 percentage points in a hypothetical matchup, 42 percent to 34 percent. Biden has a significant edge over Trump among women (17 points), millennials (22 points) and independents (10 points). ....

In the last 120 years there have only been 4 presidents who did not get re elected and 3 of those 4 lost purely on the fact of the economy...
The folks wanting you to watch cable news, and bite on their click bait are going to feed you all sorts of crap.. but the reality is short of the economy completely collapsing, Trump will not only handily win re election he will perform better than 2016 in every single state.
And in the states the Dems have to flip back, the only one that is even remotely A possibility would be MI.. and that’s a very low probability.
Trump has done a great job bringing the economy back, especially to the smaller towns in the upper Midwest. They have seen more economic groth on average in the last 2 years than they have seen in the previous 20. No they aren’t where they were 40 years ago, but they are improving and people there have true hope again and not dispair.. watching their towns die... no dem has a shot in hell at winning in 2020.

Ignore the white noise.. there are what 30 Dems running right now? All trying to get far left support in hopes to survive the primary.. they have a lot of people running, but you know what they don’t have? Not a single one with the X factor. Not a one of them..
Smart Dems know nomination this time is a dud, they can’t beat Trump.. so the smart Dems don’t want the nomination but are just using this to try to lay the groundwork for a 2024 run.. because if you are the nominee and get spanked by trump, that’s a millstone you don’t want in 2024. So smart ones will stick around long enough to. Build a little nationwide org and make some donor connections.
In the end you will either have a firebrand too stupid to realize it’s a lost cause as the nominee or a way past their prime back bencher who will take the nomination out of loyalty to the party knowing they can’t win. The job of the 2020 dem candidate is not going to be to win, because unless the economy implodes that ain’t a possibility.. so they job is to keep the base engaged and not get dejected, so that the slaughter at the ballot box for the presidency doesn’t cascade down ballot to a route all the way down the ballot.
Biden is clearly playing the roll of the old party loyalist doing his duty..Bernie’s a non starter, but him being there and his loyal 20% forced the entire party left knowing they will need his supporters eventually.
So the only question left is which if any of the younger firebrand fools might still be standing by June of 2020.. if any.
And in the end it really doesn’t matter because no one is taking out Trump, just like in 16. The only one who can take out Trump is Trump and hes in such a stronger position now than he was in 16, that thee is no way he going down.
Old-timers like me might remember Mike Dukakis’ 17-point lead over HW in ‘88 polls. What no one will ever remember is a “President Dukakis.”

We just had an election which had Nancy Pelosi retake the House by a wide margin, in a very high turnout midterm. Your confidence that Trump will be re-elected with certainty is misplaced.

I remember that 17 point lead and it was a lot closer to the election, too. I think it was right after the dem convention in the summer of 1988. But by labor day, all was changed. Old timers?
