I just got a call from Windflier's wife, he has taken
a downturn from a pre-existing problem and is pretty
much bedridden and not eating.
He has stage 4 Squamous cell carcinoma which I had to look up:
Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second most
common form of skin cancer. It's usually found on
areas of the body damaged by UV rays from the sun or
tanning beds. Sun-exposed skin includes the head,
neck, chest, upper back, ears, lips, arms, legs, and
hands. SCC is a fairly slow-growing skin cancer.
I'm told he's in good spirits but is now "resistant"
to further medical treatment. Because he's stubborn.
Prayers for him and the family would be appreciated.

Prayers and best wishes to them. My personal experience is that squamous cell is hard to spot because it looks different in many people. I had a girlfriend with a dent the size of a nickel on her cheek. Mohs surgery took care of it, but the dermatologist said inaction can still be dangerous.
Oddly enough, inaction is the recommended course of action in prostate cancer in many cases.
Get well, my friend. I know we don’t see eye to eye but I still love you like a brother. Prayers up!

SCC metastasizes by direct extension. We elderly should get a ‘skin check’ yearly, at the very least. I had one on my hand. Luckily it hadn’t moved on. Your hands and your face are ALWAYS in the sun. Be vigilant.

I have had so many skin cancers that I can’t remember them all. Certainly more than 30. The majority are basal cell carcinoma’s but a few have been squamous cell. At least 3 have been both.
Around 2 years ago, I had a melanoma removed from the back of my neck. The surgeon removed a lot of skin but it healed rapidly. It was also early stage so survival rate is high.
Will have two more removed from my arm first of next month. I have noticed that the ones removed by surgery tend to heal much faster than other types of treatment.
I do owe my surgeon a real thanks because the one on my neck was invisible to me and none of my Dr’s had noticed it before.
He’s got it on the inside skin of his face, nose and throat.
How he managed that I’ve no idea.
My wife and I are praying for his comfort and the comfort his wife and those who love him and are taking care of him. And may the healing touch of God and his power restore his health.
Father God, thank You for all good things and blessings, we praise You for who you are and what you have done. i join with those here who ask for a loving and healing touch from your Son, the Great Physician, for our FRiend and brother Windflier. indeed we ask healing for all in the hearing of this prayer, who are in need. if there are people or angels to be sent, Lord, let them be sent. Lord, continue to strengthen and comfort him and his family. Let Thy will be done over any earthly authority or physician. i ask for Jesus sake, Amen.

Windflier has been a Freeper friend for many years. This post with news of Ronnie’s health issues saddens me beyond words. I know him to be an incredible patriot who loves his country!!
