It has only been a few short days since Attorney General Bill Barr released his summary of the special counsel’s report about Russia interference into the 2016 election, and President Donald Trump is already entertaining “prominent” Russians at the White House.

The Washington Capitals were honored at the White House for winning the 2018 Stanley Cup Championship. While some members of the team declined the visit due to values, some members still attended such as Alex Ovechkin.

“Alex Ovechkin, the team’s Russian captain, and the National Hockey League’s most valuable player, who is also a vocal admirer and personal friend of President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia,” a report from The Washington Post said.

Obama talks about experiencing racism as a child
Mr Obama offered a rare personal account about how he has been affected by racism, during a town hall meeting on race and policing.

He talked about how, when he was a child growing up in Hawaii, a female neighbour once refused to go in a lift with him.

She was just “worried about riding the elevator with me”, Mr Obama said.

He said that sense of being feared as a black man continued as he grew older.

“Over time you start learning as you’re crossing the street, suddenly the locks start going on doors,” Mr Obama said.

President Trump on Tuesday said the investigation into whether he or members of his campaign colluded with Russians to sway the outcome of the 2016 election began on orders from officials “very high up” in the Obama administration.

“I think it went very high up. I think what happened is a disgrace. I don’t believe our country should allow this ever to happen again. This will never happen again. We can never let it ever happen again. It went very high up, and it started fairly low, but with instructions from the high up. This should never happen to a president again. We can’t allow that to take place,” Trump said.

Trump was asked if it “reached the West Wing of the Obama White House” — meaning was former president Barack Obama involved — to which Trump replied, “I don’t want to say that, but I think you know the answer.”
