"Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek revealed in a YouTube video Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Trebek said in the video he was given the health update this week.
"Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but Im going to fight this, and Im going to keep working," he said. "And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease."

Oddly enough, over the years Trebek has been exposed to a giant pool of brilliant people who were guests on Jeopardy!
So why not put out a blanket request to them, asking if they know of promising experimental treatments for S4 Pancreatic Cancer?
At any given time there are a huge number of experimental treatments out there, that never “make the papers”, and take many years to produce a practical product. Even if they work very well.
My brother on Christmas Eve 2016. About 80 days. My condolences to you.
Good point.
It cures pancreatic cancer.
That's why pancreatic is so terrible. It just doesn't show up. A month before her diagnosis, my mom's bloodwork and everything else was "perfectly normal." Three months later she was gone.
I guess it is a difference in local usage. Here, palliative care can occur anywhere including home, of course, but when someone says hospice they are always referring to the facility.
Wow and they say that stuff doesn’t happen, that the rich and celebrities aren’t given preferential treatment, but they absolutely are. Probably the worst I ever heard was about John Phillips of the 1960s singing group the Mamas and Papas. In the 1970s he became a massive heroin and cocaine addict. By his own admission he said he did the stuff “every 15 minutes for 2 years”. How he survived, who knows. But later on in the 1980s he was a full blown alcoholic and drank until his liver failed after which a short wait he got a liver transplant. And when he was released from the hospital what did he do? He hit the bar as he said “to break in the new liver”. I always think about that when I read about a kid needing an organ transplant. How many rich people and celebrities were placed in front of his name?
He said, in his announcement, that the 5 yr survival rate was 3%.
And he’s 78. Prayers for him.
I’ll take Recovery for $1000, Alex.
Bill Hicks isn’t dead. He’s Alex Jones.
Damn. Trebek is a national treasure. And even with cancer, he’s still sexy as hell at 78.
Has People magazine ever named him Sexiest Man Alive? If not, why not? They’d better hurry.
LOL! Holy cow he does look like him LOL LOL
Plenty of alternative ways to extend life when diagnosed stage 4 cancer even and have it be quality life. Just have to be open to changing foods, stress, taking supplements or juicing/smoothies.
Praying Alex surprises many doctors and lives well beyond the normal for prognosis with quality life as many others diagnosed stage 4 pancratic and various other forms of cancer have done. Sometimes it the treatments that kill the patient weakening them and they can’t fight any more, seen that with many family and friends.
