TEXARKANA, Ark. — A 19-year-old Arkansas man has pleaded guilty to trying to steal a commercial plane so he could fly to Chicago to attend a rap concert.

The Texarkana Gazette reports that Zemarcuis Scott of Texarkana pleaded guilty...

Authorities have said Scott was found July 4 inside the cockpit of an American Eagle jet at Texarkana Regional Airport and that he had hoped to fly to an out-of-state concert.

He has no training as a pilot. Police have said he told investigators he thought piloting the plane would involve little more than pushing buttons and pulling levers.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Actually that’s all there is to it. Of course it helps a bunch if you know which lever to pull and which button to push at what time.
Or ask Shonte, Jr. and Jamaal.
"[in a police helicopter on the ground]
Shonte Jr.: Anybody know how to fly this damn thing?
Jamaal: Mother****er, it can't be that hard, it's just lift versus drag and rotation.
Lee Harvey: Yeah, man, get your head out your ass.
Shonte Jr.: It's not that, man, the controls are written in German, ya asshole.
Lee Harvey: Mother****er, you speak German don't you?
Shonte Jr.: Mother****er, I can speak it, I ain't saying I can read the **** all that good.
Jamaal: [Grabs instruction book] You a mother****in' disgrace!"
At Abbotsford airshow in about 1992 or so, there was a Russian su-27 idling on the ruwnay and I was walking by on my way out and I thought about going for a ride, but realized getting off the ground wouldn’t be real hard but the landing might be. I also realized I might make some authorities upset, so common sense won the day hah.
Very true. Sort of like coding is just typing. Surgery is just cutting people with a knife.
Reminds me of the Barefoot bandit kid from several years ago.
He’s done his time and is out of prison.
“Most do not need keys to start.”
I used to start a lot of the Cessna’s with a craftsman toolbox key.
Actually, no, that’s not all there is to it.
Just like space flight only involves sitting on top of a rocket, right?
Stealing a plane is a civil right... everyone should be equal and have one.
So when I read the headline I'm thinking amateur pilot stole small plane, flew to Chicago and got caught. Nope. Not as cool sounding.On the other hand I'm BETTING there was a different reason he was in the cockpit but the bit about stealing the plane was cover.
