Clearly his own party is taking him out. They have a reason to worry. His comments roused a lot of people previously not engaged in the issue. Especially since it comes from a governor.

My question is, why is Cuomo getting away with the same abortion stance in New York? Is it just that the backlash is unbearable in Virginia, but not New York? It then makes sense that they’d have to find another reason to take him out in Virginia while leaving Cuomo alone.

So why wasn't it discovered (and used) by the republican party BEFORE Northam was elected?

That's what I was wondering. Surely people had the photo. Bongino said he didn't publish it because he couldn't verify it??? Why didn't he put it in a tweet & ask if it could be verified by anybody? Or at the least he could have sent it to his buddies in the media - Hannity, Carter, Solomon.... - and let the verify it.
