Serious question, what 85 year olds do you know?

Posted on 01/14/2019 9:52:26 AM PST by MNDude

It seems that the fake news keeps telling us that RBG is just fine and is able to do what her job requires of her. I'm curious, how many of you know 85 year old who would be capable of doing the job of listening to Legal arguments and going through legal documents?

My grandma was very healthy and active at age 85, although I still cannot imagine her doing that job.

But not only is she super old, she has just allegedly gone through broken ribs and lung cancer removal. I cannot think of many 30 year olds that could come back to work quickly after that.

I know there are a lot of senior citizens here, so your Insight will be a lot better than mine. What are your thoughts of having this 85 year old woman on the bench?

Like I said, similar to getting the car keys away from someone who is a menace behind the wheel as they age. Only the notorious rbg could cause more harm to more people.

She's a walking case of "pneumonia slouch".

My mother's beau just passed away from that.

I believe you can't aspirate the lungs well enough to expell cr@p when you have that.

I know several in the morning coffee crowd at the local VFW.
One is 93 and was Army Air Corps then Air Force from WW2 through Vietnam.

As long as she’s breathing on her own, the Constitution gives her permission to be on the bench.....................

My Aunt is 89 and is planning on driving a race car on her 90th birthday. She drove one when she turned 85. However, my MIL is 89 and was a little wack-a-doodle when she was 85 and it has progressively gotten worse. She hasn’t had sound mind since she was about 80.

My dad is 82... I would trust him to make sound decisions. My mother, 80, not so much.

My mother in Law was 94 before she started to slip.

My mom was 84 and she couldn’t follow the sun, let alone a conversation.

I’ve spent a lot of time around Octo’s. They are all different. It is honestly hard to generalize. There is so much that goes into the brain chemistry that you can make some assumptions about a cohort, but the individuals are all over the place.

I know an 85-year-old who goes to the gym every day and still drives himself, but he is not exactly in robust condition and walks very slowly. I also know an 82-year-old who mentally very sharp but physically handicapped. I never see anyone with the apparent vigor of some of the 85+ Senators like Dianne Feinstein, so I have to wonder how much they are paying for those infant stem cell treatments. /s

My parents are both over 80 and could easily do that job. My wife’s mom is the same age and she could as well.

I mean, if they were trained for it.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter because she is not using thought to formulate her decisions. She is strictly deciding on political lines 100%. If she was on a respirator but semi conscious, she would decide the same exact way every time.

I know a few octogenarians that are sharper than most people in their 30s. Unfortunately, these are the rare exception.

After age 65, the risk of Alzheimer’s doubles every five years. After age 85, the risk reaches nearly one-third. This does not count all of the people with senility from other causes (such as strokes, loss of blood circulation, or other diseases).

My FIL is 86. He’s pretty sharp but I doubt he could do the legal work.

If she was a conservative the democrats and MSM would be screaming for a mental capacity test. Republicans should ask for one.

Clint Eastwood is going to be 89 soon and he’s still making movies, but on the other hand he regularly works out which I doubt Ruth does. Exercise makes a huge difference when you get older otherwise the body really breaks down, making it hard to walk etc. But for someone to have cancer at that age is not good at all, that’s usually a sign the end is near. If she resigns and Trump nominates a conservative woman it’s going to be interesting to see all the men liberals pay to accuse her of sexual assault, they’ll probably talk flamboyant “She patted me on the assssss and now I need a two door entraaaance!”

Along with the other commenters I would say that everyone is very different. If you make it to 85, you have some good genes but you may be very forgetful, frail etc. There are many people that are 85 and above that are like 60 year olds. I would say that RBG is on the very frail side of the spectrum, I saw her in an interview a few months ago and she talked very slow and her head was down, she did not look good.

Basically, we are being lied to. She has gone home to die.

This is common with older people. The docs run out of options and there is no reason to maintain them at a hospital. Being home is just as good as being at a facility.

The docs MAY NOT contradict anything the Ginsberg people choose to say. But we’ve seen this sort of thing all the time. Very sick old person. They go home and claim they’re fine. Dead very soon!

I don’t care about her age. I care that she does not respect the Constitution, that she is solidly pro-anything-leftist and that she hates Trump and the Republicans.

Don’t put all your Eggs in the RBG going out feet first club.

Only the good die young and the Bolsheviks never give up.

RBG has her clerks to read cases and write opinions. All RBG has to do is to still know how to sign her name.
