There’s an arrest recorded for him on my local PD’s website. The charge was “assault on a child under 12.”
“Seem” means literally that. Ever experience a “flash mob” put together in a mall by a large group of... whatever? The goal is to incite violence... so there is that. Get your point and, in the abstract (would sure like to know the full timeline of actions/reactions), agree. The guy’s wife- if that is who she is— she and her children could be someone he knows from the town, or church— she looks fairly scared, and.. small.

Great question. If it didn’t involve someone I love, I may walk away. Not worth it.
But he didn’t push her first according the the video. She struck first and responded.
Then someone gets hurt or dies and the hand wringer ask, 'why didn't the people standing around do anything to stop this?'
He could have been breaking up a fight that could have led to someone being killed. In that case he would have been called a hero.
This is an example how your fate can change in a second.
When my kids were young, they were my only concern ever. Even now as adults, they’re still my only concern, just different.

The headline made it sound like the guy just decided to beat up an 11 year old kid.
The headline should read, *Man and family assaulted by gang, man defends himself*.

From what I saw on the video, he did nothing wrong, imo regardless of the 11 or 12 or 13 or whatever girl.
I’m a teacher. It shocks me what 10-17 year old girls do.Or it doesn’t. But it’s not uncommon.

She may be 11 or 12 but that doesn't mean she wasn't a threat.
I'll wait until I learn more about what led up to this incident but from the video she was not an innocent bystander. She clearly moved forward (twice) to engage the man.
The question in both the court of public opinion and law will be was she a threat and did he respond to the threat with appropriate action.

Anyways, walking away from a fight is more manly, only cowards would confront those brats, it is a lose lose situation if you do.
Turning around, taking your kid and wife back into the mall is the manly thing to do in this situation. Go out a different exit or contact mall security if you think something is going down.

If this “gang” of brats was such a problem, I would have taken my wife and kid and went back into the mall and out a different exit. Problem solved. I am not on this planet to discipline other people’s brats, that is just going get me in jail.

I agree with you. Intelligent adult would not hit any kid under 18. Even if one is attacked first, it is better to get away from the situation because jury is more likely to sympathize with the kid. When some driver cuts me off (happens frequently because I drive a small car) I restrain my road rage, and do not pull out the gun from the glove compartment.

Plus we don’t have the full video, I have no idea how it started. But in the end, that won’t matter. The adult is expected to be the adult in a situation like this.
