Fireball spotted in sky above New York

More than 190 people reported seeing the gleaming rock between 6:35 a.m. and 6:45 a.m., in seven states on the East Coast, according to the American Meteor Society, a not-for-profit that tracks meteor sightings.

Video posted on Twitter shows what appears to be the fireball dipping down in the clear blue sky over West New York in Hudson County, N.J.

One person reported seeing the astronomical event in Flushing, Queens, at 6:35 a.m., and two minutes later, another lucky onlooker spotted the fireball from Pelham Parkway in the Bronx, AMS said.

Thousands of fireballs and meteors occur in the earth’s atmosphere each day — but the majority of them either fly above oceans or are hidden by daylight, the AMS said.

“So, if you saw this one: congrats,” AMS said. “It’s a nice way start the year.”

It is a candleholder with a candle. The dude is trying to light the candle with his ignited flatus.

I was hoping the fireball was really DeCommieo spilling his alcoholic drink on his crotch and then accidentally dropping his cigarette in his lap.

Now that would be one “fireball” I’d like to see in the sky before it exploded into dust.

At 6:35 AM it was seen in Flushing, Queens and two minutes later it was seen in the Bronx?

If that was a meteor, it sure was moving SLOW!

Circa 1976 I was on my way to a well sight in North Dakota late at night. A fireball meteor crossed the sky and lite up the badlands for a few seconds like it was daylight. It was lovely.

If it were big and interesting, Cleveland would have ceased to exist about five minutes later. It was probably a rockthe size of a basketball. It was the dust on someone’s car in PA this morning.

Clark Griswold plugged in the Christmas lights on his home again? Cousin Eddie dumped his holding tank in the gutter?

Yeah. I was hoping to see that photo of the self-immolating greeny-weeny on this thread.

That will never get old for me.
