[Vanity] I'm Done...The "Orville" has Jumped the Shark...for me.
Me ^ | 1/4/2018 | The Dread Pirate Roberts

Posted on 01/04/2019 7:30:14 PM PST by Bloody Sam Roberts

I have had it. I just watched the latest episode of "The Orville".

But this latest episode, "Primal Urges" pissed me off to NO end.

Let's forget the overall subject of "gay" porn addiction by a completely non-human species, and the total delve into how that affected the ship and crew...and the clear homosexual overtones.

I cannot let pass the behavior of the sudo-Klingon character of Bortis who stood by and watched a woman say goodbye to her family...husband and son...of which there was a good 30-60 second scene...and our Uber Macho "hero" did NOTHING to save her.

His behavior...given his mission to save as many people as possible from a planet soon to be destroyed by an exploding star...was simply unconscionable. He should have grabbed her and pushed her onto the shuttle with her family and closed the door. A sacrifice? Possibly. But...if necessary...YES.

Yet he chose to save his own sorry ass. Not good.

Maybe I'm wrong. But I would not have hesitated to push her onto the shuttle and then close the doors. That was the mission. Save as many people as possible.

Yes...I know this is fiction and supposed comedy but really? Why would such a feel good, heroic moment be overlooked? Except...by those who JUST DON'T GET IT.

The writers of this show have exposed themselves to be far less than worthy of my viewership. I'm done with this type of BS.

I cannot believe...and I hope...that I am not the only one who noticed this and whose hackles rose while watching this.

Am I too old school? Am I a dinosaur? Are there no others who would have done...oh...I dunno...the RIGHT thing?

I'm sorry. But sometimes...I get pissed.

I love The Expanse. I beleive season 3 will be on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I forget which. But it won’t be on SyFy.

Makes me think McFarland may be a closet conservative that knows how to cleverly poke liberals in the eye by giving them exactly what they want...

Interesting take. Could very well be.

That LGBT stuff is working its way also into commercials. There’s this one where a baby sitter hired to watch over a child and was getting instructions from the two male married guys.

The series totally sucks, First Season had a couple of good episodes, S2E1 was absolutely stupid. Why not just call it Love Boat in Space? The sexual innuendos are non stop.
The Japanese had their Spaceship Yamato, this show is turning into a Space Battleship Gay Bathhouse Missouri.

I thought the Oroville was a meager acceptable alternative but now its on my never to watch list.

One of the ways The Orville tries to not be Star Trek is limitations. They regularly remind viewers that the Orville is a small ship with limited resources and the fleet is small with limited resources. And they don’t have a godcrew that reverses the polarity all the time to save the day. They have limitations, and people (not main cast of course) die because of it. They setup the situation so the majority of the people on the planet were going to die because the Orville just didn’t have the resources. The one woman was to individualize it, connect the audience better. Sure Bortis could have saved her, but that still leaves 44 others behind, including kids. Which was the point of that story beat. It was a job they couldn’t do, because it’s not Trek.

I saw about 12 minutes of it. After the alien gay has an argument with the alien gay virtual reality sex addict, click, OFF.

The whole episode was about that. The space ship was just the setting for an indoctrination session in gay stuff.

This is not Star Trek, even if they play some of the music from Star Trek. This is Gay Trek, and I’m finished with it.

Same here.

A good show Crusade, the B5 spin-off got killed way before it got a chance to get going.

I liked the first few years of Family Guy and American Dad.

Gave up after that.

Zathras also knows that great B5 runs on Comet TV.

So much great machine could have done but never explained. Tragic.

Me and my wife used to go to DragonCon for several years.

We made it a point to go to Claudia’s table and panels. She was always so nice.

Another was Peter Jurasik. He called us his September kids or something like that because we got married right before a con that year. The times we went back, he remembered us.

All the B5s and Crusade people were great to meet.

Nooop. Loved the film version. The Sci-Fi channel adaptation was a snoozefest.

I hadn’t seen it yet, decided to watch it a couple of nights ago. First scene I saw was two burly male aliens in bed, arguing like men and women do, with one of them wanting sex and the other declining because he was tired from work. I think I may have seen a minute of that, and couldn’t watch any more. Never again.

If the TV commercial couple isn’t homosexual, it’s mixed-race.

Sure, there are many couples like that, but EVERY hetero couple?

Cut it out with the nonsense already!

I’m not sure why, but that character never “clicked” with me. I don’t hate Zathras, but I cannot see any redeeming quality to the cartoonish-simpleton portrayal of an apparently vital crewman.

Never watched it...the commercials alone drove me away. Now, from what you’re saying, I made the right decision

Who watches commercials. Do you not have a DVR? I never watch prime time TV live anymore
