Pres Trump today notified Congress that some 80 US military personnel have been deployed to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to help protect US diplomatic personnel and facilities there. Violent demonstrations are feared in response to the Dec 30 elections there.

Who was hacked?

On December 1, the perpetrators started to publish new data about celebrities such as Jan Böhmermann, Til Schweiger, the YouTuber LeFloid and the rapper Sido on Twitter daily according to the advent calendar principle. As of December 20, data from European, federal and state politicians of the FDP, the Left, the Greens, the SPD and the CDU / CSU followed - to varying degrees. AfD politicians are not affected.

Since December 28, no further data has been published via the Twitter account. On Friday, January 4, Twitter's account was suspended.

Who published the data and why?

It is currently unclear whether it is a single perpetrator or more. The Twitter account was followed by a few others, including the hate and hate infamous website anonymousnews.ru. He "likes" various tweets of other users who are directed against Jan Böhmermann or against refugees.

Just from the hacks against politicians only the AfD is not affected.

How did internet users become aware of the data theft?

On Thursday evening, the Twitter account of the web star Simon Unge had been pointed to the published data - which brought the previously largely unnoticed data some attention. Unge has about two million followers on Twitter, the corresponding contributions have since been removed. According to his own information, someone had hacked his account @unge, the creator also reported in a short video statement that he was trying to "get back" two e-mail addresses.

Where does the data come from?

The published data is not the "loot" of a single hack. Rather, they come from many different sources: some of the data - including addresses and contact details - can be found in public documents, such as in account reports. Others, such as mobile phone numbers from top politicians, are known among colleagues and journalists, but often not public. Where they come from is unclear.

In some cases, e-mail, cloud or social media accounts appear to have been hacked, with incidents dating back many months. These accounts may have included telephone numbers as well as personal documents. Even phishing with the help of comparatively expensive counterfeit mails would be a method of accessing non-public information and access data. A corresponding spam campaign against members of parliament had been noticed in November.

The Bundestag administration also assumes that the data "does not come from the IT systems of the Bundestag and are not the result of a hacking attack on the Bundestag".

Is the data up-to-date and authentic?

At least part of the politician's data is real and up-to-date. Others are out of date.

Many of the leaked documents have also been on the Internet before, for example in the case of the journalists affected by radio, the youth media offer of ARD and ZDF: "In the current state of the published data is for the most part outdated information that is already one published earlier and now have been compiled. Funk employees have been affected by Doxing more than once in the past - especially for employees of formats dealing with political or social issues.

What could you do with the data?

The perpetrator (s) may have found numerous passwords of those affected and logged into various accounts. For example, they could use it to order products on the Internet or publish fake messages. However, they could also blackmail those affected because they at least claim to have found sometimes very sensitive private data. Whether these are authentic is unclear.

In addition, anyone who has access to the copied and published data may be exposed to various Internet service providers as one of those concerned. For example, to gain access to a user account with an email provider without knowing the password, it may be sufficient to answer security questions. The records may contain clues to the correct answers.

Particularly vulnerable are those who use the same password for different services and waive a two-factor authentication.

good morning. Ive missed you all. have done some lurking. Lucy just has days left and as vet recommended (and I already knew w/o spending the $$) just keep her comfortable, warm and love her. So that is what I am doing.

Keeping her close to my body keeps us both warm. The unfortunate side effect is her condition is systemic candida and both ends exude a very pungent unpleasant odor/liquid. This too shall pass. She doesn’t understand and can’t help it.

My bronchitis/pneumonia have not really gotten better. but also not worse. The meds are about gone and I am not sure they did a whole lot. Glad to see others with similar diagnosis are improving. There is hope for me perhaps.

I marvel at our president. His strength and focus and determination.. amazing
