Alan Dershowitz, a frequent defender of President Donald Trump, said special counsel Robert Muellers report will be devastating for the president.
The Harvard Law professor emeritus told ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos that he believes the president will have to navigate the political impact of a potentially damning final report from the special counsel.
I think the report is going to be devastating to the president and I know that the president's team is already working on a response to the report, Dershowitz said on "This Week" Sunday.
Dershowitz added that he believes the report, although it will have a strong political impact, is unlikely to result in criminal charges.
When I say devastating, I mean it's going to paint a picture that's going to be politically very devastating. I still don't think it's going to make a criminal case, Dershowitz said.

Not criminal, but surely full of slander and innuendo. Because that's how America-hating Mueller rolls.
("But Mueller's a decorated military veteran"! - sure, so was Benedict Arnold)
lol...great juxtaposition. They never said a word about the enemy combatant we had as ‘president’ for 8 long years.
Indeed. The crisis we have in USA government is not solely this unprecedented political witch hunt against PDJT, with zero evidence of any wrongdoing after over two years of investigation. . Its also that theres been zero prosecution of known liars and/ or anti- American evil doers Obama HilLIARy sorozNazi or pelousy.
...”Why is he saying this now?”...
Is it not odd that Dershowitz took this to ABC News? FOXNEWS had him on all the time and I never felt good about him. There was just something amiss. May be just me, but that is how I felt.
‘Devastating’ to whom, the political or the individual?
President Trump is a graduate of New York City and as such is probably immune on the personal/individual level.
Politically? Remains to be seen. If the report is given in the next 6 months, that is an eternity before the next election. The ‘moanin & groanin’ of the expected suspects is minimized by their EXPECTED outrage. It reeks of crying wolf, people will not pay attention.
“Its criminal what the deep state democrats and republicans have done here and the long term damage of these actions. It may be the ultimate downfall of this republic.”
It ought to be the ultimate downfall of the political class, and career politicians - and it just may be.
Muller’s epic adventure can only be devastating if it ends with a conviction in court. Anything less will get buried in the swirl of the news cycle in 72 hrs.
If it is so devastating, it’d be out by now.
.......so, someone on the Meuller team is leaking to Alan Dershowitz? How did he acquire this so-called reliable information?
The Rat media has exclaimed at least two million times devastating about something/anything regarding Trump.....and they havent been right yet. LOL
Alan undoubtedly got some inside info from someone in the Mueller camp (Mulehead hired all DemoRat donor attorneys for his investigative team, remember?)......and he, Dershoshitz, is now subtly, shiftily, smarmily shifting his stance to what he may be thinking will be the winning side.
He creeps me out.

I am of the opinion that had ANYTHING been found during the last year and a half, it would have already been in the headlines.
I think these guys will just say anything. They say what they think the current audience wants to hear.
Stock markets are predicting big trouble in the next number of months I don’t know what kind but Sentiment about the future Has turned very dark. This all started when the Kavanaugh thing blew up. The election iced it. It funny how civilized the RATS have become since Nov 6.
Dershowitz is one of no more than a handful of intelligent pundits. He is reasonable and principled. In taking the President’s side he has worked against his own narrow interests.
With that written, he is also self-interested. He is covering his arse here. Mueller simply must manufacture something. If that something turns out to be substantive, AD can say, ‘See! As I predicted!!!’ and if that something turns out to be a nothingburger, AD can say, ‘These fools blew it!’ This is AD hedging his bets.
Mueller has had massive resources, coercive powers, talent, media support ... He has no scruples. He should not be underestimated. It seems to me that he has likely found nothing; but we should not presume that he won’t use smoke and mirrors to make it look like he has something. And ... for all we know ... some folks in the Trump Campaign transgressed. The President needs to assume the worst, and to be ready to rebut, as AD is essentially suggesting.
The GOP controlled Senate will never remove Trump, it would end the GOP.
So if there is no Russian collusion, why can’t Mueller be sued for defrauding the American taxpayer, as well as being charged with collusion and conspiracy to cover up real Russian collusion with the Clintons?
I had an interesting e-mail conversation with NRO’s Andy McCarthy. Like him or not, as a former federal prosecutor, he knows a lot about this stuff and appears to be on Trump’s side in this.
First, I was interested in trying to debunk the “secret sting” that somehow John Huber is investigating the Deep State. I asked about the “60,000 sealed indictmens.” McCarthy thought that was a high number, said it could be anything from adding people to a single indictment to change of venue to continuances, to, say, a drug ring where other people are added because of ongoing testimony.
He did not expressly rule out a “secret sting,” but said it would be wouldn’t bet on it.
I asked about Huber’s grand jury with McCabe. That was different, McCarthy said because it appears McCabe gave false sworn testimony. He thinks there may be something to this grand jury and McCabe. I asked about why Combover wouldn’t get similar treatment, and didn’t really get a satisfying answer. Maybe Combover was just more clever in his lying. I don’t know.
Next I asked about whether the absence of leaks proved anything one way or another, and he said no. He was confident these juries don’t leak, but no leaks also could just be a sign that there is nothing to leak about.
We briefly discussed Mulehead. McCarthy thinks the fact that Flynn & Manafort are about to be finally sentenced is evidence that Mulehead is about done. If he still had anything, and thought they could give him anything, he wouldn’t sentence them.
Interestingly he still put a lot of stock in the next OIG report on the FISA stuff. So totally MY takeaway: I don’t think he’s sure that the investigation/prosecution of the Deep State is over yet. He thought going after Stone was going a completely different direction from Trump.
Thank you, Larry.
Thank you. I would think the FISA issue would have legs, and as an American citizen I would hope that that sort of thing would not happen again. More than just a report is needed, otherwise many people will think it’s OK, as long as it’s leftists or deep state doing it to the rest of us.
“The GOP controlled Senate will never remove Trump, it would end the GOP”
The GOP died during the O’muslim usurpation when they allowed and funded his fundamental transformation of America. Then they turned around and went to war against the one man that was trying to save her, President Trump. It’s a completely FAKE party. The Washington Generals to the left’s Harlem Globetrotters. We have NO REPRESENTATION in D.C. except for Trump.
