Ina Garten plans to cook up something special, should she ever have the opportunity to host some of Washington's top politicians.
The Food Network's "Barefoot Contessa" star was asked by New York Times restaurant critic Frank Bruni what she would serve political figures.
For Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass, Garten would prepare lobster macaroni and cheese. For Senate hopeful Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, an avowed BBQ lover, she would serve pulled pork shoulder with maple beans, cornbread, and a kale salad. Former Vice President Joe Biden would receive "something fun, like a lobster and clambake," Garten said.
And President Trump?
"A subpoena."
Garten made the comments during an event promoting her new cookbook on Thursday, and her comment was met with laughter by attendees, reported Eater.
Garten typically does not discuss politics, despite having been a staffer in Republican and Democratic White Houses. She worked as a budget analyst focused on nuclear policy under former Presidents Gerald Ford and Democrat Jimmy Carter.
"I think the more we cook and entertain, the more we stay connected with our friends no matter what their politics are," Garten said earlier this week in an interview with the Huffington Post. "So, no, I dont talk about politics. I dont know if people know what my political beliefs are or not, but I just think its kind of like peoples diets: You worry about your diet, and Ill worry about mine. Thats how I feel about politics."
:)
Her cookbook has some very poor reviews on Amazon - wonder if it’s from alienating 1/2 her audience.
I’m tempted to write one:
“Every single soup recipe in this book is way too thin, but I find if I add 1/2 C of subpoena run through the confetti-cut shredder and stir for 2 minutes, it’s perfect!”
Big disappointment. I really liked her. I guess I dont anymore.
Me too and her recipes are really good. Kind of my go to when I need something to cook. Joanna Gaines new cookbook is really good.
I’ve never liked this beotch who worked in Reagan’s cabinet (?). She is far into Hamptons/NYC Lib Land. Not just that, but her manner of speaking is very dry (mouthed) and off-putting. I especially hate the way she demands “good” olive oil. Ick. Never bought one of her cookbooks.
When shopping the trinity, (celery, onion, green pepper), pray that the chef’s knife doesn’t slip out of your hand and hit your barefoot.
If you don’t discuss politics WHY THE F ARE YOU DISCUSSING POLITICS!!?? What a moron...
SAME!!!
I am suddenly just sickened by these spoiled, ugly people in a way that never occurred to me before. They are so self-absorbed!
Pg 181 hannity corned beef and canbage recipe.

Pioneer woman.
someone on FR posted some thing a while back about Ina not granting a child’s wish (i think) and from that moment on I could not care any less about her, there is nothing actually good about her, imo
.
The woman is an incredible snob!

In Washington, Garten worked in the White House while earning an MBA[2] at George Washington University; Jeffrey worked in the State Department, completing his graduate studies. Garten was originally employed as a low-level government aide, and climbed the political ladder to the Office of Management and Budget. Eventually she was assigned the position of budget analyst, which entailed writing the nuclear energy budget and policy papers on nuclear centrifuge plants for Presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter.[10][11]
They just really don’t get it - she’s dead to me now.
_____________
The only 'Barefoot Contessa' for me was ......
Ina who?
What a craven nitwit.
No more Ina for me. (Unless she comes to her senses, of course.)
I’d serve the “Contessa” some goddamn weight watchers.
