Barefoot Contessa dishes on what she would serve Trump: 'a subpoena'
Washington Examiner ^ | October 27, 2018 | Kimberly Leonard

Ina Garten plans to cook up something special, should she ever have the opportunity to host some of Washington's top politicians.

The Food Network's "Barefoot Contessa" star was asked by New York Times restaurant critic Frank Bruni what she would serve political figures.

For Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass, Garten would prepare lobster macaroni and cheese. For Senate hopeful Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, an avowed BBQ lover, she would serve pulled pork shoulder with maple beans, cornbread, and a kale salad. Former Vice President Joe Biden would receive "something fun, like a lobster and clambake," Garten said.

And President Trump?

"A subpoena."

Garten made the comments during an event promoting her new cookbook on Thursday, and her comment was met with laughter by attendees, reported Eater.

Garten typically does not discuss politics, despite having been a staffer in Republican and Democratic White Houses. She worked as a budget analyst focused on nuclear policy under former Presidents Gerald Ford and Democrat Jimmy Carter.

"I think the more we cook and entertain, the more we stay connected with our friends no matter what their politics are," Garten said earlier this week in an interview with the Huffington Post. "So, no, I don’t talk about politics. I don’t know if people know what my political beliefs are or not, but I just think it’s kind of like people’s diets: You worry about your diet, and I’ll worry about mine. That’s how I feel about politics."

We have a couple of her cookbooks - won’t be buying this new one. And I think I need some space on my bookshelves, so “Bye Ina!”
I’d bet that more than half of those who might purchase her cookbooks have been insulted. Don’t see the liberal vegan/order out/Starbucks/live in mom’s basement types making beef Burgundy or 40-clove roast chicken with sides.

She’d better start working on a crow-based recipe. I predict she’ll be serving up a lot of that in places like NYC, the Left Coast and DC after the election ....

"A subpoena."

Perhaps dear lady you could say for exactly what you would serve this subpoena?

And for someone who "don’t talk about politics" you just did.

And she uses the word “perfect” way too much.

Can’t stand her, now I will avoid her. Good job, Ina.

I thought it was Ford. Nonetheless, a lot of left-wing elitists infested GOP administrations.

Stopped watching her years ago, she wears her politics on her apron way too much for me. And, she she obviously should pay a whole lot more attention to her diet.

I heard her cooking and recipes make you fat.

She’s proof in the big, globby bowl of pudding.

Why do these people work so hard to deliberately to piss off half of their audience?

This is the same snob would found her schedule was too packed to meet a 6-year-old boy stricken with leukemia who requested a cooking session with her through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She turned him down, twice.

Rot in fiery hell you b!tch.

The barefoot contessa is morbidly obese.

Boohoo, the FAT lady doesn’t like Trump, I’m so sad.

One more to click off. Why do these people keep opening their mouths concerning politics. The left learns nothing from history... but many of us are forgetting the Dixie Chicks.

The only guest she ever has on her show are queers.

She’s one of Hillary’s pals. She worked in the Clinton White House.

Yeah, she’s a smug elitist with a phony laugh who also sucks up endlessly to any wealthy or celebrity guests on her show. She said this to get more Hamptons cred and impress her friends when she goes to her “Paaahris” apartment.
And yes, she does wear the same tent-style shirt, ALL the time. They are custom tailored, for obvious reasons.
I saw on the TV at the gym this week they had her on the Today Show (another reason to dislike her) - she is even shorter than Al Roker.
