The Earth has a second magnetic field, one generated by ocean currents. Researchers know little about it, but images captured by satellites show this invisible force generated by the worlds salty oceans in perfect detail.
... ESA released a video detailing the changes in the Earths magnetic field over a 24-hour period... ...Its a really tiny magnetic field. Its about 2-2.5 nanotesla at satellite altitude, which is about 20,000 times weaker than the Earths global magnetic field....
Oceans may have a small contribution to the magnetic field that protects the planet from harmful cosmic rays, but it remains to be an essential element. Seawater serves as an electric conductor. Aside from that, oceans move with the tide which could affect the magnetic field.

Oh thanks, tie it in with some AGW?
Does that violate some version of Goodwin’s law?
“Cool stuff”, is that like the old advanced global cooling movement from the 70’s?
That said, all the work behind this experiment and the publication of the graphic video, are really kind of neat.
Can you work that into natural everyday conversation?
Pass me another beer, barkeep; my magnetohydrodynamics is a little low today.
I’m actually thinking it may provide additional science against “man-made” GW by providing an additional variables that fluctuates with incoming solar radiation.
I enjoy magnets and have too many, from lodestone to neodymium. Very curious as to how you use them?
I think a fun-filled science class?
Ephemeral creations, like 3d etch a sketch?
Sewn into a blanket to cure lumbago?
“Pass me another beer, barkeep; my magnetohydrodynamics is a little low today. “
Sounds good to me, but you have to get it past the judges.
And would you actually need more than just one, for a return to the proper level?
What if you overfill?
Do you have a designated driver?
NOT. They started selling them again a few months ago. The nanny state finally relented.
I have heard the same about the mattress tag police!
I’ve never heard of a single gov agency that ever disbanded!
They simply change the name.
Watch a few cop shows and see them looking under the mattress.
Evil villain has a plan to concentrate all of the ocean’s magnetic field into a hazardous directional beam for profit.
Next Bond film plot?
“a hazardous directional beam for profit.”
An old story, OSHA makes big bucks on this very thing every day.
Everything is a danger, or prove it is not.
Cannot see, touch or smell it? Then prove it is not there; OR PAY UP.
Looks like a nice little non union shop you have here.
How are your magnetohydrodynamics doing?
Had them checked lately?
Fear not researchers think it may be just the UFO’s parked for a recharge in their phaser cells.
Here's something I put together some time ago.
https://www.zeugmaweb.net/bucky/
I've come up with some insanely complex stuff since then. Probably ought to document it on this page, but I haven't bothered.
I have, but I am an engineer, so my natural everyday conversation isn't exactly normal...
*groan*
I did when I had that class 25 years ago. (Actually it wasn’t every day I had the class MWF.)
Thank you very much!
All very nice, #1794 is my favorite.
On a good day, with luck, I can return them to a cube.
Side note:
One day I brought in to work, two nice N-52 bar magnets, ~3” x 1” x 3/4”( worked in a research lab, this is typical fun).
One of my guys was attempting to separate them.
Thinking he could get a better grip if he held them in his hands between his legs.
A slip and they ‘pinched’ his inner thigh with extreme prejudice. Even made a cut in his slacks.
His wife later told me “very near to causing the end of the family line”.
My plan is to save my few functioning brain cells for important things, like dinner time or my Arduino project.
Using proven cliches, proverbs, a truism... a good quote.
No thinking needed, only activating a few memory cells.
Like an eeprom only so many cycles of useful life.
I’m going to use that in Scrabble.
People have no idea how powerful magnets can be.
Depends on one's long-term plans.
