Washington (CNN)Ahead of the March for our Lives rally, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student David Hogg said the media's biggest mistake while covering the school's shooting was "not giving black students a voice."
"My school is about 25 percent black, but the way we're covered doesn't reflect that." Hogg said during an Axios event Friday.
Hogg, one of the core members of the #NeverAgain Movement, hasn't shied away from acknowledging his privilege. In fact, "privilege" came up in many of the speeches at Saturday's march in Washington, D.C. While taking the stage again -- this time before hundreds of thousands -- Hogg and other students made sure to include victims of gun violence from across other communities.
'We share this stage'
"We recognize that Parkland received more attention because of its affluence," Jaclyn Corin, a survivor of the Parkland shooting, said during her speech. "But we share this stage today and forever with those communities who have always stared down the barrel of a gun." Corin brought Yolanda Renee King, Martin Luther King Jr.'s granddaughter, to the stage as her special surprise guest.

I’d say Hogg is using quite a bit of privilege that those people don’t have. And he’s not suggesting anything that will help them - only things to help mostly white, privileged liberals feel better.
They’re zombified. These Parkland kids should be home protesting that laws and procedures already in place weren’t followed. One can’t help but wonder how those on the margins of society feel about these elitist brats.
Hogg is whitesplaining for the black students. By their own standards what he’s doing his outright wrong (and if he were espousing a conservative viewpoint he would be excoriated - but because he’s a white leftist he’s better than the black students so he’s left alone.)
Substitute "Republican" or "Conservative" in that quote - do you think the young fascist Hogg (or the old fascists at CommieNewsNetwork would give it the time of day?

Just how obvious is it that Hogg is being carefully groomed for political office? I get the same vibe from him that I got from Justin Trudeau. You know that his eventual coronation is an inevitability, the only question is exactly WHEN.
Great point re Chicago, tough laws , and yet residents face the possibility of violence at any time vs a situation that could be easily addressed by on site law enforcement. If it’s good enough for politicians then it’s good enough for students

While Hogg is touching on a lot of SJW subjects, I notice he’s stayed away from abortion so far. It would be hard to justify the murder of kids...when you’re rallying against the murder of kids.

At my age I can ‘get away’ with using Black even among Blacks because they figure I am not using some other well known phrases (Check Sen Byrd for clue).
AND, like I have been known to profess, since I was born in Bronx NY to parents born in NY/MA and grandparents born in NY/MA I don’t expect NOR want to be referred to as Irish-Americans, so I do NOT use the term African-American even to such as Gary Player or Charlize Theron much less by people who claim to be descendants of slaves some 175 years ago..that would ALSO make them Americans and to use the ‘logic’ that their ancestors were here ‘against their will’ would or at least should include indentured Irish immigrants who also arrived in the holds of ships stacked like collateral AND nobody ‘paid’ for the better part of them at the shipping end.
Also, since Australia was originally a Penal Colony, wouldn’t they all be considered English-Australians?

Privilege.
What these young pukes don’t understand is that when they moan and groan about white privilege, they are actually acknowledging that there IS a class distinction. A racial separation between blacks and whites.
And that despite our federal laws about equality, and despite all the Civil Rights movements of the last 75 years - these kids are consumed with white guilt over the fact that they are culturally, socially and economically superior to blacks and minorities.
Since I don’t accept the silly notion of White Privilege, I certainly don’t have any White Guilt.
You can buy a 5 gallon gas can, gasoline and a Bic lighter for under 25 bucks. All over the country school kids like this Hogg idiot get inside yellow school buses. What’s Mr. Hogg going to do if these very inexpensive and easily obtainable items a 12 year old can purchase are used to create havoc?
The idiocy of these people is beyond the pale, the nut cases and jihadists will simply pivot away from school campuses that have been hardened to various other soft targets.
The groups that are providing the foundation for these kids to make all this anti-gun noise and act as if they are important people are very well funded. The theater this past weekend in DC cost a mint. People I know who were on the ground there were stunned at the money that has been poured in to the pockets of these kids. They are living high on the hog (pun intended).
