They’re called the Little Barbies. Children, young girls—some as young as 9 years old—are being bought and sold for sex in America. The average age for a young woman being sold for sex is now 13 years old. This is America’s dirty little secret.
According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, “Children are being targeted and sold for sex in America every day.”
Sex trafficking—especially when it comes to the buying and selling of young girls—has become big business in America, the fastest growing business in organized crime and the second most-lucrative commodity traded illegally after drugs and guns.
As investigative journalist Amy Fine Collins notes, “It’s become more lucrative and much safer to sell malleable teens than drugs or guns.
Consider this: every two minutes, a child is exploited in the sex industry....On average, a child might be raped by 6,000 men during a five-year period of servitude.

Reminds me of how all prostitution is now sex trafficking.

I truly believe that is a major priority now. I read daily about traffickers being arrested and women and children being rescued.

Just because we want to see some references DOES NOT MEAN we are denying there is a problem. There is a problem but this article stating that the perps “are from all walks of life” and that we are all guilty seems to be towing a politically correct line and protecting minorities.

I have been alive and very social for more than half a century.
I don’t know ONE personal acquaintance who has:
- disappeared presumably trafficked
-had any relative or friend they’ve ever mentioned that this has happened to or
-lost one child. Not a one.
How many missing children under, say, 15, are there currently in this country? I figure fifteen and up mostly runaway. Not to say these are not vulnerable.
One kid is too many. But the way this article is written it’s like a kid from every block has gone missing.
I believe there is a problem. I just think the numbers at least for this nation are nowhere near that high. I’ve lived here too long and know too many people. Not one of them has a disappeared kid. And I live in San a francisco!

My brother is a cop. He told me that human trafficking is a major problem in Louisiana. He said that most of the victims are children.
Well, there have been several children that have disappeared in our county/surrounding area and never found. One was found dead. One was rescued from his kidnapper after 4 years. I live in a town of 3000, so that was kinda shocking.
Doing a search on registered sex offenders was eye opening too.
But, Hey maybe you are right it’s a nothing burger.
