More than 2,000 remarkably well-preserved hunting artefacts have emerged from melting ice in Norway's highest mountains, dating as far back as 4000 BC.
The incredible finds were made by 'glacial archaeologists' in Jotunheimen and the surrounding areas of Oppland, which include Norways highest mountains.
They looked at the edge of the contracting ice and recovered artefacts of wood, textile, hide and other organic materials.
Included in the archaeologists' haul is a ski with preserved binding from 700 AD - only the second one to be preserved globally - as well as a Bronze Age shoe from 1300 BC.

Wow!

So, 1300 years ago there was no glacier there. Sounds like we’ve been in a global cooling period, and the glaciers have now begun to retreat.
Some retreat, some advance. Thankfully, so far we have not started the nest ice age. I always get a kick out of scientific reports about Antarctica having a tropical climate at one time. Water covered Florida in the past, the Mediterranean Sea was probably farmland, and the Sahara had a sea.
Climate always changes, with the cycle of the Sun.
bttt
Did they find my car keys? Because, seriously...I have looked EVERYWHERE! ;)
I love this kind of stuff. MORE PROOF THAT MOTHER EARTH IS CHANGING ALL THE TIME and there ain’t JACK we Humanoids can (or should) do about it!
I seriously looked into those clappers to put on your keys, then realized that with my barking dogs my keys would ALWAYS be beeping.
You’re quite right. It’s so very easy to forget earth changes. We just rebuild the roads when the ground buckles, and move when the house is about to fall down the cliff. But the earth controls. We just react.
Piece of crap. My Solomon’s, nearly that old, were better, and they were ADJUSTABLE!
“Why do they always pick the guy with no artistic talent to do the paintings and carvings ?”
Never heard of the Amalgamated Cave Artists Union (ACAU), idiot? They really had no choice as to who did the drawings.
The art in Chauvet Cave is very good. There is a documentary on it worth seeing. It is mind-boggling that the art dates to over 30000 years ago.
Perhaps a ‘Right to Paint’ cave?
So 4,000 years ago Norwegian snow had melted to the levels of today then advanced again.
All I want to know is did they find Helen Thomas there? If so, shove her sorry ass back into the deepest crevasse you can find.
Looks like my backyard.
However, mine is lined with 65,000,000 old Cuccullaea Gigantis clam shells, Paleocene Era.
Actually it did. It had a tropical climate due to the fact it was far north at one time in a tropical region. Our continents move around over time geologic time. At one time South America and Africa were one continent as was North America and Europe. India was once attached to the East Coast of Africa and sailed North until it hit Asia.
Hey cavemen and cavewomen, welcome to KICE radio, the voice of Ice Age Norway, a big shout out to Ogg, he dragged home an entire mastodon and invented fire all on the same day, now here’s our weather guy with today’s forecast ... sunny and cold with east winds 200 miles an hour, high near -70, hey that’s not so bad, we can stay in for that like we have for ten thousand years. Now turning to evolution news, we have out-adapted the Neaderthals, good bye Neaderthals, it’s been real ...
