Black brings down his bishop but it looks to me like all Black has to do is move his queen next to the white King and it's game over. Black queen is protected by black knight. I must be missing something but it sure looks like checkmate to me.

White breaks out on left flank with pawn moves and releases the Queen Rook to support the advanced pawn which gets to 7th rank.
Black resigns when White sacrifices Bishop to take pawn with check.
Exposed King is of no consequence.

Yeah I see that now but I’d do it anyway and then take whites bishop. I’ll trade a knight for a bishop any day.

Black position looks better to me too. White king looks trapped there in the bottom two rows, with the queen and a rook ready to advance.

Fact was, someone accessed these "about queries" from a SCIF. That almost certainly means 1) NSC 2) FBI Counter Intelligence or 3) DOJ NatSec Division. They are serious Fourth Amendment issues; felonies, in fact, and people--not at NSA--are going to prison when all is said and done.
King to king's bishop 2 taking knight is not a possible move, since it would put the king in check. It's either queen or rook to king's bishop 2 taking knight. The Queen move is the more aggressive of the two, since it threatens black queen.
